Well, I reckon y’all wanna know a little somethin’ ’bout them racing champions from back in the year 2000, don’t ya? Well, lemme tell ya, there was quite a stir in the world of NASCAR back then, with some mighty fine drivers makin’ their mark.
Now, if we’re talkin’ ‘bout the big one, the NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion in the year 2000, you gotta give a tip o’ the hat to Bobby Labonte. Yep, ol’ Bobby came out on top that year. He wasn’t the loudest one on the track, but boy, he sure did know how to drive that car. He beat Dale Earnhardt, a fella who was known for always bein’ near the front, by a good 265 points. That’s no small feat, lemme tell ya. Earnhardt, though, he wasn’t too far behind, still givin’ Labonte a run for his money, but in the end, it was Bobby who took home that shiny trophy.

Now, I ain’t forgettin’ about Jeff Burton. He was another fella who did mighty well that season. He finished up in third place in the championship that year, and that’s not somethin’ to sneeze at. A lot of folks thought he might make it to the top, but it just wasn’t in the cards that time around. Still, third place ain’t too shabby, if you ask me.
And then there was this young whippersnapper, Matt Kenseth. Now, Matt, he wasn’t too well-known back then, but he sure made a name for himself. He was named NASCAR’s Rookie of the Year in 2000, and lemme tell ya, that boy had a bright future ahead of him. He didn’t win no championship that year, but he sure caught the eye of a lotta folks, and that was just the beginnin’ for him.
Now, that year in NASCAR was somethin’ special. The season started off with the Daytona 500, which is always a big ol’ deal. It took place on February 27, 2000, down there at the North Carolina Motor Speedway. That race, just like every other, had folks sittin’ on the edge of their seats. There’s somethin’ about that Daytona 500 race that just gets the heart pumpin’, don’t it? You can’t hardly get a better start to a season than that.
And don’t forget the Dura Lube-Kmart 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway just a few days later, March 5, 2000. That race was one of them that folks remember, especially with how competitive things were that season. There’s a lotta folks still talkin’ ‘bout them races to this very day.

All in all, the 2000 NASCAR season was a good one. You had a mix of seasoned drivers like Earnhardt and newcomers like Kenseth, all fightin’ it out for that big ol’ trophy. It wasn’t just about speed, either. It was ‘bout strategy, keepin’ your nose clean, and stayin’ cool under pressure. And those fellas did just that. So, if ya ever get to watch them old races on TV or YouTube, ya can see for yourself how the year 2000 shaped up to be one of the more excitin’ seasons in NASCAR history.
