Alright, let’s talk about this “2020 Prizm Baseball” thing. I don’t know much about fancy cards, but my grandson, he’s crazy about ’em. Always yappin’ about “hits” and “parallels” and whatnot. So, I figured, let me see what all the fuss is about, ya know?
Now, from what I gather, this 2020 Prizm Baseball set, it came out in June of 2020. June 17th, to be exact. Folks seem to remember that date. They say it’s got 250 cards in the whole set. That’s a whole lotta cards, if you ask me. I remember when a deck of cards was just 52, and that was enough for a good game of poker!

So, what’s in these packs? Well, they say each pack’s got 12 cards. And you get 12 packs in a box. And then, wouldn’t you know it, 12 boxes in a case! Seems like everything’s 12s with these card folks. Now, my grandson tells me, in each of them hobby boxes, you’re supposed to get some special cards.
- Three autographs. That’s when the players sign their names on the card. Fancy, huh?
- Four blue Prizms. These are shiny, colorful cards. My grandson says they’re pretty good to get.
- Five red Prizms. More shiny cards, but red this time.
- Three silver Prizms. Even more shininess! These are the ones everyone seems to want.
- Twelve inserts. These are like extra cards, with different designs. Keeps things interesting, I guess.
My grandson, he’s always lookin’ for certain players. He talks about some fellas like… Alex… Breg-man, I think it is? And Cody Bellinger, Fernando Tatis Junior, and some others. Says they’re the “good ones” to find. He’s got this whole list of players he wants. I tell ya, it’s like he’s got a whole other language he speaks when it comes to these cards.
Now, these cards, they ain’t cheap. You can buy ’em in packs, boxes, or even one at a time. People sell ’em online, in stores, everywhere! And the prices, oh boy, the prices! Some of them cards, they cost more than my grocery bill for a whole week! My grandson says it’s all about the “value” and how rare a card is. He keeps talkin’ about “graded” cards and “ungraded” cards. Said graded are worth more. Sounds like a whole lotta hoopla to me.
But I guess it’s like anything else, people like what they like. And if my grandson gets a kick outta collecting these 2020 Prizm Baseball cards, well, then that’s good enough for me. He says there are even rookie cards in this set. Those are the cards for players when they just started playing in the big leagues. He’s always happy when he gets one of them rookie cards. Makes him jump around like a june bug on a hot plate.
He showed me some website where they talk about the prices of these cards. Said they “track” the prices and all that. I don’t understand half of it, but he seems to know what he’s doin’. He even got some kind of subscription to get information on prices. Spends his allowance money on that. It’s his way of keeping up with things, I guess. Like me keeping up with the weather reports for my garden.

So, yeah, that’s the gist of it, this 2020 Prizm Baseball. It’s a bunch of cards, some shiny, some signed, some expensive. And it makes my grandson happy. And that’s all that matters to me. He spends hours organizing them in binders, putting them in little plastic sleeves to keep them nice. He even has a special light to look at them. It’s quite a thing to see.
He told me they make different sets every year, but this 2020 one, he says it’s a good one. Lots of good players and some really nice looking cards. I’ve seen him trade some of his cards with his friends too. They all get together and show off what they got. It’s like a whole little club they got going.
So there you have it, a little bit about these baseball cards from an old lady who doesn’t know much about baseball or cards. If you’re into that sort of thing, I guess it’s fun. Me? I’ll stick to my gardenin’. But hey, at least now I know what my grandson’s always ramblin’ on about!
