Okay, so I wanted to try something fun and crafty the other day. I’ve always been into those DIY projects, you know, making stuff with your own hands. And this time, I thought, why not try making a paper tennis racket? Yeah, sounds kinda funny, but I was curious if I could pull it off.
First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I grabbed a few paper plates ’cause those seemed like they’d make a good racket head. Then I found some straws, thinking they could work as the handle. And of course, I needed some tape to stick everything together.

Decorate the Plates
Before anything else, I decided to decorate the paper plates. I mean, who wants a boring-looking racket, right? I used some markers and just went wild with colors and designs. I even drew some funny faces on them. I’m not an artist or anything, but hey, it was fun.
Make the Handle
- I took a couple of straws and taped them together to make a longer, sturdier handle.
- If you have strong and big sticks, that’s better.
- I can’t find something like that at home, so I use straws.
Put It All Together
Now for the tricky part. I laid out the two decorated paper plates facing down and positioned the straw handle between them. Then, I carefully started taping the edges of the plates together, making sure the handle was securely in place. It was a bit like making a sandwich, but with plates and straws. The size of the racket is around 26 inches.
Test It Out
After all that taping, I had my paper tennis racket! It was so cool, even if I say so myself. I tried swinging it around, and it felt pretty good. It’s way lighter than a real tennis racket, like probably about 8 ounces. Of course, I couldn’t actually play tennis with it, but it was fun to pretend. I found a balloon and tried to hit it, it worked well!
So yeah, that’s how I made a paper tennis racket. It was a fun little project, and it didn’t take too long. I am happy that I did this. Plus, it’s a great way to use up old paper plates and straws. If you’re ever bored and looking for something to do, give it a try! It’s a blast.
