Okay, here is my blog about how to practice tennis alone.
So, I really wanted to get better at tennis, but it’s tough to always find a partner, you know? I figured, I gotta find a way to practice on my own. Here’s what I did.

Find a Wall
First, I needed a good wall. Not just any wall, but a nice, smooth, and tall one. I drove around my neighborhood for a bit and spotted a perfect one at the back of the local school. It was during the weekend, so nobody was there.
Warm Up
Before hitting any balls, I made sure to warm up. I did some jogging in place, arm circles, and some stretches. Nothing fancy, just enough to get the blood flowing. I just do what my friend told me. My friend is a professional player!
Start Slow
I started by just gently hitting the ball against the wall, focusing on my forehand. I stood about 10 feet away and just tried to get a feel for the bounce. Then, I slowly increased the distance and the power of my shots.
- Used my forehand to hit the ball.
- Stood 10 feet away at first.
- Slowly increased distance and power.
Footwork
I knew footwork is super important, so I started practicing that too. I moved side to side, shuffling my feet, pretending I was hitting balls from different positions on the court. It felt a little silly at first, but I knew it would help.
Backhand Practice
After getting comfortable with my forehand, I switched to my backhand. This was tougher, but I just kept at it. I focused on my grip and tried to keep the ball going for as long as possible. I also used a single-handed backhand.

Serve Practice
I even tried practicing my serve against the wall. I marked a spot on the wall to aim for and just worked on my toss and swing. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than nothing. I have to say that this is the hardest part!
Keep Going
I spent about an hour practicing like this. It was a good workout, and I felt like I was actually improving. It wasn’t the same as playing with a partner, but it was definitely a good way to get some practice in. I will keep doing this and hope my skill will grow.
Cool Down
After I was done, I did some cool-down stretches. I just want to play better next time and don’t want to be hurt. Don’t want any sore muscles tomorrow! Then I packed up my stuff and headed home, feeling pretty good about my solo practice session.
If you want to get better at tennis, give it a try!
