Okay, so I’ve been getting really into tennis lately. Like, REALLY into it. And my old racket? Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly helping my game. It was some hand-me-down thing from my uncle, probably older than I am! So, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I needed to find the BEST tennis racket for me.
The Search Begins
First,I jumped online. There are about a zillion websites selling tennis rackets. It was overwhelming, I looked at Head, Wilson, Babolat…you name it. So many choices!

I started reading reviews. Lots of them. Some were helpful, some were just confusing. “High stiffness rating”? “Open string pattern”? What was that?
Getting My Hands Dirty
I realized I needed to actually hold some rackets. So I went to a local sports store. The guy there was super helpful (thank goodness!). He asked me about my playing style (which, honestly, is still “developing”) and how often I play.
I swung a few around. Some felt heavy, some felt too light. Some just felt…weird. It’s hard to explain. But I started to get a feel for what I liked, and what I didn’t.
Narrowing it Down
- Wilson: I tried a couple of Wilsons. They felt pretty good, solid, A classic choice.
- Head: The Head rackets felt a little more…powerful? I don’t know if that’s the right word, but I felt like I could really hit the ball hard with them.
- Babolat: These were interesting. They seemed to have a bigger “sweet spot,” which I guess is good for beginners like me.
After some back and forth. I could hit the ball more consistently with it, and it felt comfortable in my hand.
The Result
I’ve been playing with my new racket for a few weeks now, and I’m loving it! My game has definitely improved. I’m not saying I’m ready for Wimbledon or anything, but I’m definitely having more fun, and winning a few more points. Choosing something I felt really comfortable with.

So, that’s my racket story. I hope to share with you next time!
