Okay, so today I decided to dig into something I’ve been curious about for a while – figuring out all the players who’ve been on both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Las Vegas (formerly Oakland) Raiders. I’m a big football fan, and these two teams have some interesting history, especially that Super Bowl XXXVII matchup.
First, I opened up my trusty web browser. I figured a general search would be a good starting point.

- I typed in something like “players who played for buccaneers and raiders” into the search bar.
- I hit enter. The results start to showing.
I found a couple of sites that listed some player names. I recognized a few, like, obviously, Warren Sapp and Jerry Rice, but there were a bunch I’d never heard of. This was gonna be tougher than I thought!
Then, I decided to get more organized. I opened a new spreadsheet document. This way, I could keep track of everyone.
- I created two columns: “Player Name” and “Played for Bucs/Raiders?”.
- I started copying names from those initial websites into the spreadsheet.
The next step was to verify each player. For the big names, it was easy. I remembered seeing them play! But for the lesser-known guys, I had to do some more digging.
I went to each player’s page. I looked at their career history and stats. This was key for confirming if they actually played for both teams.
I kept adding to my spreadsheet, putting a “Yes” in the second column if I could confirm they played for both the Bucs and the Raiders, and a “No” if it was just one or the other, or neither. This took some time, going back and forth between websites and my spreadsheet.

After a couple of hours, I had a pretty good list! There were definitely more players than I expected. It’s always interesting to see how much player movement there is in the NFL.
Finally, I was done for now. I saved my spreadsheet. I might come back to it later and add more details, like the years they played for each team. But for now, I felt pretty good about what I’d accomplished!
