Okay, so I’ve always dreamed of being an F1 driver, right? Like, who hasn’t? The speed, the adrenaline, the glory… So, I decided, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, how hard could it be? (Spoiler alert: VERY hard.)
My “Training” Begins
First things first, I needed to, you know, actually drive. I’ve been driving my mom’s old Toyota for years, but that’s hardly F1 level. So, I started with go-karting. Figured it was the closest thing to a real race car I could get my hands on without, like, robbing a bank.

- Go-Karting Mayhem: I went to this local track, and man, those things are FAST. Way faster than I expected. I spun out, like, a million times. And crashed into the tires more times than I care to admit. I even managed to get a little air time once (totally unintentional). Let’s just say I didn’t win any races. Not even close. My best result is the 3rd last, not bad.
So, I knew I would be * there’s the physical side of things. F1 drivers are seriously fit. I’m more of a “sit on the couch and watch TV” kind of guy, but you know, I’ve made up my mind to change it, baby!
- Gym Time (Ugh): I tried to go to the gym. I lifted some weights, I ran my ass off on the treadmill (for, like, five minutes), and I felt my muscles burning. Then I found some neck exercises online. Did those for a while, and my neck was sore for days. I was walking around like a * I still did that, 2 hours everyday!
Turns out my body isn’t exactly F1 material. I went to gym for a whole week!
Sim Racing and Reality Checks
Next up: sim racing. I figured if I couldn’t drive a real F1 car, I could at least pretend to. I downloaded a racing simulator, bought myself a steering wheel and pedals, and… well, it was humbling.
- Virtual Insanity: These simulators are no joke. They’re super realistic. I crashed, like, every other corner. I kept messing up the braking points, spinning out, and generally making a fool of myself (virtually, at least). I think I spent more time in the gravel traps than on the actual track.
Giving Up? Never!
I had to realize F1 drivers are insane athletes. They spend hours every day working on their fitness, their reflexes, their mental strength, and most important of all, they have talents. It’s not something you can just pick up in a few weeks (or even months, or probably years). It takes a insane level of dedication, natural talent, and, let’s be honest, a whole lot of money. After spending all my money on sim and go-karting, and put so much efforts on my training, I think I was getting closer and closer to my dream.
I’m probably never going to be an F1 driver. But hey, at least I tried, right? And I had some fun along the way (even if it mostly involved crashing). And I can still watch the races on TV and pretend I’m out there with the best of * I’ll stick to go-karting for now, but keep training. Who knows?
