Alright, folks, let’s dive into this whole “cross-platform” thing with NBA 2K22. I’ve been messing around with this game for a while now, and I wanted to see if I could play with my buddies who are on different consoles. So, here’s how it went down.
My Gaming Setup
First off, I’m usually rocking it on my PlayStation 5. My friend, though, he’s got an Xbox Series X. Another buddy is still stuck on his PC. The big question: could we all play together?

Getting Started
I fired up the game, and of course, the first thing I did was try to invite my Xbox friend to a match. Seemed simple enough, right? Went to the friends’ list, looked for his gamertag… nothing. It was like he didn’t even exist in the 2K22 world.
Digging Deeper
Okay, so maybe I was missing something. I spent a good chunk of time poking around the menus, thinking there’d be some “cross-platform” option I needed to flip on. Nope. Found a bunch of settings for, like, camera angles and difficulty, but nothing about playing with people on other systems.
The Bad News
After messing around for way longer than I’d like to admit, I had to face the music. My PlayStation couldn’t see my friend’s Xbox, my PC pal was also out of luck. Basically got that experince, can’t play with my buddies on different consoles.
What I Found Out
Here’s the deal I got from the whole testing:
- PS5 vs. Xbox Series X: Nope, can’t do it.
- PS5 vs. PC: Still a no-go.
- Xbox vs. PC: Same story.
- PS4 vs. PS5:Different generations of PlayStation.
- Xbox One vs. Xbox Series X/S:Similar to PlayStation, 2K22 allows cross-gen play within the Xbox family.
Final Thoughts
It is kinda a bummer. All my crew on different consoles, can’t enjoy it together.
