Alright, so I’ve been getting tons of questions about NBA 2K23 and whether or not it finally has crossplay. I mean, it’s 2023, right? We should be able to play with our friends regardless of what console they’re on. So, I decided to do some digging and, well, play the game myself to figure this whole thing out.
My Deep Dive into NBA 2K23 Crossplay
First things first, I booted up my trusty PlayStation 5. Then I fired up NBA 2K23. My buddy, Mark, he’s on Xbox Series X. We’ve been wanting to play together forever, but previous versions just wouldn’t let us.

I went through all the menus, looking for any hint of cross-platform play. Online options, settings, everything. I even checked the official 2K website, hoping for some clear, straightforward answer. You know, a big ol’ “YES, CROSSPLAY IS HERE!” banner. No such luck.
Then, I tried to invite Mark directly. Nope. The game just wouldn’t let me see his gamertag, since he’s on a different platform. That’s when it started to sink in…
The Disappointing Truth
Sadly, after all that searching and testing, it became pretty clear: NBA 2K23 does not have crossplay. I know, I know, it’s a bummer. It feels like such a missed opportunity, especially these days.
So, yeah, if you were hoping to team up with friends on different consoles, you’re out of luck with 2K23. You’re still stuck playing with folks on the same platform as you.
I am extremely sorry about the reality.
