Well, let me tell ya ’bout them 2010 Texas Rangers, ya hear? They was a pretty good bunch, won a whole heap of games, 90 of ’em, I think. Lost 72, but shoot, nobody’s perfect, right?
Them fellas was playin’ in the American League, and they was the best in their part of the country, the AL West they called it. Beat out all them other teams, which ain’t no small thing, let me tell ya. Folks ’round here was real proud of ’em, wearin’ them Rangers hats and shirts all over the place.

Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t know all them fancy baseball numbers and such. But I do know they had some good hitters, fellas that could knock that ball a country mile. Heard tell they had some fellas that could pitch pretty good too, keepin’ them other teams from scorin’ too many runs.
- Heard of a fella named Chris Davis, played first base, but they sent him down to the minor leagues for a spell. Happens sometimes, even to the best of ’em.
- Then they brought up this young whippersnapper, Justin Smoak. Folks said he was somethin’ special, even set some kinda record for walkin’ a lot. I guess that’s a good thing in baseball, walkin’ and gettin’ on base.
Manager fella, Ron Washington, he seemed like a good fella, knew his baseball, that’s for sure. Got them boys playin’ hard, that’s what matters.
They had a good season, like I said, won a whole bunch. Even made it all the way to the World Series, which is a big deal, ya know? Played against them fellas from San Francisco, the Giants. Now, them Giants, they was tough. Our Rangers, they fought hard, but they couldn’t quite pull it off. Lost that World Series, which was a real shame, but they give it their all, and that’s all ya can ask for.
Folks was real excited ’bout that team. Always talkin’ ’bout the games, who was hittin’ good, who was pitchin’ good. It was somethin’ to see, all them folks comin’ together to cheer on their team. It’s what baseball does, brings people together.
They had all sorts of players, some hit a lot of home runs, some got on base a lot. Some could throw that ball real fast and make them batters swing and miss. I can’t remember all their names, too many for this old brain, but they was a good team, a real good team. They gave us somethin’ to cheer about, and that’s worth a lot in this world.

They had all sorts of stats, they called ’em. Batting stats, pitchin’ stats, all kinda numbers. I ain’t gonna pretend I understand ’em all, but they tell ya how good a fella is doin’, I guess. Who hit the most home runs, who got on base the most, who struck out the most batters. All that kinda stuff.
If you wanna know all them details, you can look ’em up online, I reckon. They got all them records and numbers and such. But for me, I just remember ’em as a good team, a team that played hard and gave us a good show. They almost won it all, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
So, that’s the story of them 2010 Texas Rangers, as best as I can recollect. They was a good bunch, and they made us proud. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
