Alright, so you wanna know about this NASCAR thing, the cup qualifying, right? When is it happening today? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a bit of a mess trying to figure it all out, but I think I got it for ya.
First off, they say it’s gonna be on Saturday. Now, Saturdays are always busy days, but if you’re into racing, I guess you gotta make time, right? They’re saying the big qualifying, the important one, starts at 1 p.m. ET. But what the heck is ET, right? It’s like they try to make it confusing on purpose.

- 1 p.m. ET is like, if you’re on the East Coast, that’s your time.
- If you’re somewhere else, well, you gotta do some figuring. They got all these time zones, makes my head spin. But you can probably look it up online, someone smarter than me has it figured out.
They’re gonna show this thing on the USA Network. Used to be you just had a few channels, now there’s a whole alphabet soup of ’em. If you got that USA channel, you’re good to go. If not, well, maybe your neighbor has it. Or you can listen on the radio, they say it’s on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Radio, now that’s something I understand. Just turn the knob and there it is.
Now, they got these races all over the place. One time they’re in Martinsville, then they’re in Glen, and another time they’re in Nashville. Seems like they’re always driving around somewhere. It’s hard to keep track of it all. And there’s even this championship thing happening in November. They say the qualifying for that is on November 9th. That’s a ways off, but I guess if you’re a real fan, you gotta mark your calendar.
And this ain’t just any race, it’s the NASCAR Cup Series. Sounds fancy, huh? They got all these drivers, like that Martin Truex, Jr. fella. They say this is his last time racing full-time, poor guy’s probably tired of all that driving. He’s gonna be leading the pack, they say. Good for him, I guess.
They also got this thing called Xfinity 500 qualifying. I ain’t exactly sure what that is, but it sounds like another race. They also talk about Go Bowling At The Glen qualifying. Go bowling? At a race? These youngsters and their fancy names, I swear.
So, to make it simple, check your local time for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. Turn on your USA Network, or get that radio going. And if you can’t figure it out, ask your grandkids, they know all this stuff. They’re always on their phones and computers, they can find anything.

And don’t forget, there’s also this Peacock thing. Sounds like a bird to me, but they say you can watch the races live there too. So many choices, it’s enough to make your head spin. But if you really wanna watch these cars go fast in circles, you’ll find a way. People always do.
One more thing, they say something about 2:05 pm ET for NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Martinsville. And for Nashville, the qualifying is at 1:50 p.m. CT on Saturday. They got different times for different places, so gotta pay attention. Like I said, it’s a whole mess, but that’s what they do.
Anyway, that’s the best I can tell ya. I ain’t no expert, just telling you what I heard. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about racing is making me hungry.
