Alright, so you wanna know who’s the tallest fella catchin’ balls in that football game, the NFL, right? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t no short story. They got all sorts of fellas runnin’ around, some small, some big, but the real giants, them’s the ones we’re talkin’ ’bout.
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout a fella named Harold Carmichael. They say he was like a dang skyscraper out there. Called him the “Burj-Khalifa of receivers,” whatever that means. Sounded real tall though. Folks say he was 6 foot 8 inches! Can you imagine that? He played way back when, in 1971, for the Eagles. They say he was a real demon on the field, catchin’ balls left and right. A real monster, that Harold.

Then there’s this other name I heard, Dan Skipper. Now, they say he’s 6 foot 10 inches! Even taller than that Harold fella! But here’s the thing, I ain’t so sure he’s a regular receiver, you know, the ones catchin’ the ball all the time. He might be somethin’ else, like a lineman or somethin’. But 6 foot 10, that’s taller than my barn, I tell ya!
They say most of them receiver fellas, they about 6 foot tall. So, when you get a fella who’s 6 foot 5 inches, well, he’s a giant among them, I reckon. Changes the whole game, they say. Makes it easier to catch them balls, I guess.
- Harold Carmichael: 6 foot 8 inches (Old-timer, played for the Eagles)
- Dan Skipper: 6 foot 10 inches (Might not be a regular receiver, but dang tall)
- Regular fellas: Around 6 foot
- Big fellas: 6 foot 5 inches and up (Real giants)
Now, I also heard tell of a fella named Johnson, back in 2020. They said he was the tallest at that time. Played football in some place called San Jose, Valley somethin’-somethin’. Don’t rightly remember the whole name. But he was tall, that’s for sure. Makes you wonder how they even find pants that long.
And speaking of money, you know them fellas get paid a whole heap of it. This fella, Jefferson, they say he’s the richest of ’em all. Signed a contract for somethin’ like 140 million dollars! Can you believe that? That’s enough money to buy all the chickens in the county, I tell ya. He plays for the Vikings, wherever that is. Up north, I reckon.
Just recently, I heard ’bout a young fella, Jordan Scott. He’s still in college, playin’ for some place called Southwest Mississippi Community College, and then he’s gonna play for Florida State. He’s 6 foot 7 inches! Another giant! Seems like they just keep gettin’ bigger and bigger, these football players. Makes you wonder what they’re feedin’ ’em.
So, to answer your question, it seems like Harold Carmichael was the tallest receiver for a long, long time. But then maybe this Dan Skipper fella came along, even taller. But like I said, I ain’t sure if he’s a real receiver or not. And there are new tall fellas comin’ up all the time, like that Jordan Scott. It’s hard to keep track, I tell ya. But one thing’s for sure, them tall fellas make a big difference on the football field. They can catch balls that shorter fellas can’t even reach.
So there you have it. A whole bunch of tall fellas catchin’ footballs. Who’s the tallest? Well, it depends on who you’re talkin’ ’bout and when. But they’re all big, that’s for sure. And they make a whole lot of money doin’ it, too.
