Well, let me tell ya, Indiana high school baseball, it’s a real barn burner! You got these young fellas, all hyped up, runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off, tryin’ to hit that there ball. It’s somethin’ else, I tell ya.

Games and Schedules: Now, they got games all over the place, see? Schools playin’ each other, fightin’ for the top spot. You can find the whole schedule, if you’re techy enough, on some kinda computer thingy. They play on Wednesdays, sometimes Saturdays, and who knows when else. It’s a lot to keep up with, even for a young’un.
- They got these “key games,” they call ’em. Means they’re important, I guess.
- And then there’s somethin’ called “computer rankings.” Don’t ask me how that works, it’s all fancy numbers and such.
- Oh, and them “postseason brackets.” That’s when they start knockin’ each other out, like a tournament, you know?
Championships and Winners: Just this year, Barr-Reeve, them little fellas, they won the whole shebang! First time ever, can you believe it? This kid, Seth Wagler, he pitched the whole game, threw strikes like he was throwin’ rocks at squirrels. They beat the other team fair and square.
Player Recognition: And them fellas that play real good? They get somethin’ called “All-State.” Means they’re the best in the whole state, I reckon. They been doin’ that since way back in 1990, honorin’ them good players. It’s a nice thing to do, showin’ ’em some appreciation.
Playoffs and Regionals: Right now, they’re in the middle of the playoffs, them “regional championships.” It’s gettin’ down to the wire, see? Everybody’s fightin’ tooth and nail to win. It’s excitin’, even for an old lady like me. I like to see them kids give it their all.
Top Players and Stats: They got these newspapers, they write about the “top hitters” and “top pitchers.” These are the fellas that can really smack that ball or throw it like a rocket. They keep track of all kinds of numbers, like how many times they hit the ball and stuff. It’s all a bit much for me, but some folks like that kind of thing.

Baseball Fields and Parks: And where do they play all these games? Well, they got this place called Grand Park in Westfield. Big ol’ place with a bunch of baseball fields, some even got lights so they can play at night. Must be somethin’ to see, all them lights shinin’ down on them young’uns playin’ their hearts out.
Other Baseball Teams: Now, they got other baseball teams too, not just the high school fellas. There’s this team called the Indianapolis Indians. They’re a minor league team, playin’ for somethin’ called the International League. They play in Indianapolis at a place called Victory Field. It’s a whole different ball game, but still baseball, you know?
So, that’s Indiana high school baseball for ya, in a nutshell. It’s a whole lot of runnin’, hittin’, and throwin’, and a whole lot of excitement. These kids, they put their hearts and souls into it, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon.
