Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how many NBA players are Jehovah Witnesses. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? I don’t know much ’bout basketball, but I know a thing or two ’bout people. And people are people, no matter what they do or what they believe.
Jehovah Witnesses in the NBA
So, these Jehovah Witnesses, they’re just regular folks, like you and me. They got their own way of seein’ the world, and that’s alright. Some of them play that basketball game, jumpin’ around and throwin’ that ball. It’s a sight to see, I tell ya. But they are just men, playin’ a game.

Now, how many of ’em are in that NBA? I heard some names, like this Darren Collison fella. Played for a few teams, I reckon. They say he was good. He quit playin’ a while back. Said it had somethin’ to do with his religion. That’s his business, I suppose. People got their reasons for doin’ things.
- Darren Collison, that’s a name I heard.
- Played for the Pacers, and some other teams, too.
- Stopped playin’ to focus on his faith, they say.
Danny Granger is a Jehovah Witness, Too
Then there’s this other fella, Danny Granger. Heard he was a big shot, too. Played for a long time. I guess he believed the same things as that Collison boy. It’s a small world, ain’t it? Two fellas, playin’ the same game, believin’ the same things.
They say Danny Granger was a real good player. I don’t know much about it, but I seen him on the TV once. Tall fella. Seemed like a nice boy. But you never know what people are really like, do ya?
- Danny Granger, another big name.
- Played for the Pacers, too. What a coincidence!
- He’s also one of them Jehovah Witnesses.
Why They Choose That Religion?
Now, why do these boys choose that religion? I don’t rightly know. Maybe it’s somethin’ they were raised with. Maybe they found it later in life. It don’t really matter, does it? As long as they’re happy, that’s all that counts. NBA players are just like everyone else. They find somethin’ that makes them feel good, and they stick with it.
These Jehovah’s Witnesses believe some special number of folks go to heaven. 144,000, that’s the number I heard. Seems like a lot, don’t it? But I guess it ain’t that many when you think about the whole world. Those basketball players, they probably think about that stuff sometimes. Wonderin’ if they’ll be one of the lucky ones.

It’s All About Faith
I reckon it’s all about faith, ain’t it? Believin’ in somethin’ bigger than yourself. These NBA players, they got their faith, just like I got mine. It’s what gets us through the day, I suppose. Helps us make sense of things.
So, how many NBA players are Jehovah Witnesses? A few, I guess. Maybe more than we know. It don’t really change anythin’, though. They’re still just men, playin’ a game. And they got their beliefs, just like the rest of us. That’s all there is to it, I reckon.
The Jehovah Witnesses, they believe what they believe, just like everyone else. And maybe some of them play basketball. That’s just fine. We all got our own path to walk. That’s how I see it, anyway. And like I said, I don’t know much about basketball, but I do know folks are folks. No matter what they do, no matter what they believe, they are just people tryin’ to make their way in this world.
I don’t know every name of every NBA player who’s a Jehovah Witness. But that’s alright. It’s not my place to keep track of all that. They got their lives, and I got mine. And we all just do the best we can, day by day. That’s all anyone can ask for, ain’t it?

These Jehovah Witnesses, they have meetings, they read their book, they pray. Just like many other folks and their religions. They try to be good people, just like we all should. That’s what matters, ain’t it? Being good to each other, no matter what you believe. Those basketball players, they probably try to be good, too. At least, I hope they do.
