Okay, so, I’ve been dealing with this annoying pain in my elbow for a while now, and someone told me it might be tennis elbow. I figured, why not give taping a shot? I’m no expert, but I thought I’d share my little experiment with you all.
Getting Started
First things first, I got myself some of that stretchy athletic tape, you know, the kind athletes use. You can find it online or at the drugstore, it seems quite popular recently. I made sure my arm was clean and dry—no lotions or anything like that. Then I grabbed a pair of scissors to cut the tape.

Applying the Tape
- Step 1: Wrist to Elbow
- Step 2: Back of the Hand
I started by cutting a long strip of tape, enough to go from just below my wrist to a bit past my elbow. I stuck one end of the tape just below my wrist, but I didn’t stretch it out yet. I kept my hand in a neutral position, like I was just relaxing it. Then, I straightened my elbow and bent my hand downward, like I was trying to touch my forearm with the back of my hand. With my hand in that position, I started to gently apply the tape along my forearm, moving towards my elbow. I made sure to go over the muscles that hurt the most. I rubbed the tape down firmly to make sure it stuck well, but I left the last couple of inches of the tape unstretched.
Next, I cut another strip of tape. I stuck one end on the back of my hand, again without stretching it. With my wrist relaxed, I bent my wrist downwards again. Then I applied the tape with a little bit of stretch along my forearm, going towards my elbow. I rubbed this piece down gently too.
The Results
Honestly, after I got the tape on, I did feel a bit of relief. It was like my forearm muscles were getting a little extra support. I was able to do some of my usual activities with a bit less pain. It wasn’t a miracle cure or anything, but it definitely helped a bit.
Final Thoughts
So, that’s my experience with taping my elbow for what I think is tennis elbow. It was pretty easy to do, and it did provide some temporary relief. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep it up, or if it’s really fixing the problem, but for now, it’s making things a bit more bearable. It is really a simple and easy method to release my pain a bit, maybe you can try it too. I will keep discovering and sharing these little practical experiences.
If you’ve tried taping or have any other tips for dealing with elbow pain, feel free to share in the comments. We’re all just trying to figure this stuff out together, right?
