Alright, guys, let’s talk about hitting that baseball harder. I’ve been working on this for a while now, and I’ve got some things to share that really helped me up my game.
First off, I started messing around with these weighted bats – overload and underload ones. You know, the ones that are either heavier or lighter than your regular bat? I saw somewhere online that these things could help increase your swing speed by like 6-10%. So, I grabbed a couple and started incorporating them into my batting practice and tee work. I’d do a few rounds with the heavier bat, then switch to the lighter one, and then back to my regular bat. It felt weird at first, like my timing was all off, but I stuck with it.

Then, I started paying more attention to how I was standing when different pitches were coming in. Like, if the ball was high, I’d adjust my stance to get my body in a better position to swing upwards. Same deal with low pitches, I’d crouch a little bit more. It’s all about getting your body behind the ball, you know? I found this change let me stay on the ball longer.
- High pitch coming? I straightened up a bit.
- Low pitch? I crouched down more.
I kept practicing with those weighted bats and working on matching my posture to the pitch, and slowly but surely, I started noticing a difference. My swings felt more powerful, and the ball was definitely coming off the bat faster. I don’t have any fancy gadgets to measure the exact speed, but I could tell I was hitting it harder just by the sound and how far it was going. And you know, to hit the ball really hard, you gotta swing fast and hit the ball square on. If you’re swinging slow, even if you hit it perfectly, it’s not gonna go as far.
It took some time and effort, but it was worth it. Now, I’m consistently hitting the ball harder than before. I can feel it, my teammates can see it, and even the outfielders are having to run a little further to catch my hits. It’s a great feeling!
Some tips from my experiment
- Used those heavy and light bats. Switched them up during practice.
- Changed how I stood for high and low pitches. Got my body lined up right.
- Kept at it. Didn’t give up when it felt awkward at first.
So yeah, that’s my little journey on how I figured out how to hit a baseball harder. Hope this helps some of you guys out there!
