Okay, so the other day I was messing around with my Alexa, yeah, the usual stuff. But I noticed it kept giving me these NFL updates. Not that I hate football, it’s just not my thing, you know? So, I decided to turn those headlines off. Let me tell you how I did it.
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up the Alexa app. You’ll find it on your home screen or in your app list, probably.

Once I was in the app, I tapped on “More” at the bottom right. Then, I hit “Settings”. It’s pretty straightforward from there.
Diving into Notifications
In the settings menu, I scrolled down a bit and found “Notifications”. Give that a tap.
Now, this part was a little tricky. There are a bunch of options here for different features and services. I had to look around a bit, but eventually, I found a section called “Following.” That’s where all the sports and news updates are controlled, it seems.
Turning Off the Updates
Inside “Following,” I saw a list of topics. “NFL” was right there. I just tapped on it.
There’s a toggle switch next to “NFL” (or whatever sport you’re getting updates about). I simply switched it off. And just like that, no more NFL updates!

But here’s a pro tip, if you’re still getting these annoying updates, you might want to try saying, “Alexa, stop all NFL updates.” Sometimes, that does the trick too. It’s like, directly telling her what you want.
So, that’s it! That’s how I managed to turn off those NFL headlines on my Alexa. It was a bit of a hunt, but I got there in the end. Now my Alexa is all about the stuff I actually care about. Pretty neat, right?
