Arthur Gea, that young fella, plays tennis, ya know? He’s a tennis player, a young ‘un, but plays good, real good. Folks say he’s a “rising star,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, huh? He hits that there fuzzy ball real hard, and runs like a jackrabbit. I seen him on that TV thing once, fast as lightning, he was.
This Arthur, he plays in them big matches, all over the place. They call ’em “tournaments.” Heard tell he’s goin’ to Qatar, that far-off land with all the sand. Gonna play doubles there, with another fella, Feldbausch somethin’-or-other. Dec somethin’ or other, that’s when they playin’. Four forty in the afternoon, though I don’t know whose afternoon they talkin’ about. UTC, they call it. Fancy talk for time, I reckon.

- He plays doubles! That means two fellas on each side, not just one-on-one. More runnin’, I guess.
- He’s in the ATP. That’s a big deal, they say. Best tennis players in the world, or somethin’ like that.
- They keep track of his “stats.” Numbers and such. How many times he hits the ball over the net, how fast he runs. Don’t make no sense to me, but folks like it.
If you wanna know more ‘bout this young fella, you gotta go to that “ESPN” thing, or that “Tennis Explorer.” They got all the info, more than an old woman like me can understand. They say he got a “bio.” That’s like his story, I guess. Where he come from, how he started playin’ and all that.
They also got his “ranking,” which tells ya how good he is compared to other tennis players. And “points,” which I guess is how they figure out the ranking. Sounds complicated, all them numbers and points. Singles and doubles, they got points for both. Singles is when he plays alone, doubles is with that Feldbausch fella, like I said before.
This Arthur Gea, he’s got a lot of folks watchin’ him. He’s a “professional” tennis player. Means he gets paid to play, I figure. Lucky fella, gettin’ paid to whack a ball around. Wish I coulda done that when I was young. Woulda beat whacking weeds, that’s for sure. But I was stuck in the fields, workin’ sunup to sundown.
Now, they got these “favorites” lists. If you like a player, you add him to your list, I guess. Like followin’ him or somethin’. I don’t have no favorites, too old for that. But if I did, maybe I’d add this Arthur Gea fella. He seems like a good, hard-workin’ boy. And he plays that tennis game real well.
So, Arthur Gea, a tennis player. Young, fast, and plays real good. That’s all I know. You wanna know more, go look it up on that there internet thing. They got it all there, more than you can shake a stick at. But for an old woman like me, it’s enough to know he’s a good tennis player, and he’s goin’ far. Probably further than he has ever gone before, and that Feldbausch fella will go with him, maybe they good friends too, ya never know with these young folks these days.

One last thing. If you wanna keep tabs on Arthur Gea, the best place to go is the internet and the TV thing, especially that “ESPN” and “Tennis Explorer” . That’s where them folks keep all the info. I hear tell it is updated real-time, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, but I’m happy just hearing about it now and then when the kids come around.
And that’s the story of Arthur Gea, as best as I can tell it. A good tennis player, by all accounts. Hope he wins all them matches and makes folks proud. He’s workin’ hard at it and it sounds like it’s been paying off. Now, where did I put that cup of tea?
