Oh boy, let me tell ya somethin’. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like this before. This here fighter, Andre Lima, got himself a bonus not for knockin’ out his opponent, not for chokin’ ‘em out neither. No sir, he got himself bit right there in the octagon at UFC Vegas 89. Now that’s a new one for the books! It ain’t every day you hear about someone winnin’ a fight ’cause they got bit, but that’s exactly what happened. And lemme tell ya, Dana White, the big boss of UFC, he went ahead and gave Lima somethin’ special for it.
Now, y’all know how them fighters usually get bonuses for Performance of the Night or Fight of the Night, right? Well, this time, Dana came up with a brand new one—“I got f bit bonus.” That’s right. Ain’t no fancy title or nothin’, just plain and simple, ’cause the man got bit! He was gonna give Lima $25,000 for it, but when Lima went and got himself a tattoo of the bite mark, Dana doubled it to $50,000. That’s right, Lima walked away with fifty grand just for gettin’ chomped on.
Now, Lima wasn’t no slowpoke neither. Soon as that fight was over, he went right out and got that tattoo done. Got the teeth marks all inked up on his arm, with the words “I Got F Bit Bonus” writ all around it. Can you imagine that? Ain’t nobody forgettin’ that fight, that’s for sure. Now when folks see that tattoo, they gonna ask, “What in the world happened there?” And Lima, he gonna say, “I got bit in the octagon and made fifty grand outta it!” That’s somethin’ you don’t hear every day.
And it wasn’t just Lima who got some extra cash that night. UFC 300 was already handin’ out big bonuses. Justin Gaethje and Jiri Prochazka each walked away with $300,000 in bonuses, and Max Holloway picked up a whole $600,000 with his double win. But this “I got f bit” thing? That’s somethin’ special. Dana White’s always throwin’ out them $50,000 bonuses for Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night, but this here one’s a first.
Y’know, folks been fightin’ in that octagon for years, but who’d a thought gettin’ bit would earn ya an extra fifty grand? I reckon Lima ain’t complainin’ though. He got a story to tell for the rest of his life, and he got the tattoo to prove it too! So, there you have it. Andre Lima didn’t win by knockout, didn’t win by submission, didn’t even win by decision. He won ’cause he got bit, and he walked out with a fifty grand bonus. Now that’s a fight story for the ages.
And that other fella, the one who bit Lima? Well, Dana White wasn’t havin’ none of that nonsense. Igor Severino, or whoever he was, got himself booted outta the UFC for that. That’s right, fired on the spot. Ain’t no room for bitin’ in the UFC, that’s for sure. But hey, at least Lima made out like a bandit with that bonus and a new tattoo to show off.
So if you’re ever watchin’ UFC and you see somethin’ crazy go down, just remember this here story. You never know what’s gonna happen in that octagon, but sometimes, just sometimes, gettin’ bit can turn out to be a good thing. At least it did for Andre Lima, that’s for sure.
