Alright, let’s gab about these here NBA Hoops cards, you know, the ones with all them basketball fellas on ’em. Folks keep askin’ me, “are they valuable?” Well, it ain’t a simple yes or no, I tell ya. It’s like askin’ if a hen’s gonna lay an egg – sometimes she does, sometimes she don’t!
First off, you gotta understand, some of these cards, they’re old, real old, like from back when I was a young’un. They got black and white pictures, ain’t no fancy colors like today. Them old fellas, they say them cards, the ones from way back when, them’s the money makers. Vintage, they call ‘em, sounds fancy, huh? Like a good ol’ wine, gets better with time, I reckon.

Then there’s these cards from the Bowman Gum Company, started makin’ ‘em in 1948. Heard tell they’re somethin’ special too. Guess folks back then just loved chewin’ gum and lookin’ at basketball stars. Can’t blame ’em, I guess. Basketball’s a good game, even if I don’t understand all them fancy rules.
Now, if you got a bunch of cards lyin’ around, you gotta figure out which ones are worth somethin’. Some fellas, they got these special cards, like that David Robinson fella, rookie card they call it. Heard it’s worth a pretty penny, maybe 300 dollars if it’s in good shape. That’s a lot of money, enough to buy a whole lotta groceries, let me tell ya.
And then there’s that Michael Jordan fella, everyone’s always yappin’ about him. Seems like any card with his face on it is worth somethin’. He musta been a real good player, though I never saw him play myself. Too busy milkin’ cows and tendin’ to the chickens, you know?
- Look for them shiny cards, some folks like them.
- Cards with famous players, them’s the good ones.
- Rookie cards, the first card of a player, them’s valuable too.
- Keep them cards in good shape, don’t let the kids scribble on ‘em!
If you wanna sell these cards, there’s places online, like that eBay thing and Craigslist. My grandson showed me, it’s like a big ol’ market but on the computer. You put your cards up there, and folks bid on ‘em. Just be careful, there’s some slippery fellas out there, tryin’ to cheat ya. Make sure you know what your cards are worth before you sell ‘em. Don’t let nobody pull a fast one on ya!
You can also go to some of them websites, they got prices for all sorts of cards. You just type in the name and number and they tell you how much it’s worth. It’s like magic, I tell ya. They got somethin’ called PSA, they look at your cards and tell you if they’re good or not. If they’re good, they put ’em in a special case, makes ’em worth more, I guess.

So, are NBA Hoops cards valuable? Well, some are, some ain’t. It all depends on which ones you got, how old they are, and what kinda shape they’re in. It’s like findin’ a good egg in the hen house, you gotta look through a few bad ones before you find the golden one. And remember, don’t go sellin’ your cards to the first fella who comes along. Do your homework, find out what they’re worth, and then you can make some good money. Or you can just keep ‘em, put ‘em in a box, and let your grandkids fight over ‘em when you’re gone. That’s what I’m gonna do, I reckon.
Now, you go on and take a look at your cards. Maybe you got a hidden treasure in there, you never know! And if you don’t, well, at least you got some pretty pictures to look at. Just don’t expect to get rich off every single one. It ain’t that easy, life ain’t that easy. You gotta work for it, just like everything else.
Anyways, that’s all I know about these here basketball cards. Hope it helps ya out some. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. Them birds are always squawkin’ for somethin’.
