Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya what to wear to that there boxing thingy, that… uh… boxing class. Don’t wanna look like a fool, do ya?
First off, let’s talk about shirts. You ain’t goin’ to a fancy shindig, so forget them frilly things. Just grab a regular ol’ t-shirt. You know, the kind you wear when you’re cleanin’ the house or workin’ in the garden. Somethin’ that lets you move around good. Cotton’s nice, it breathes good. Don’t want you gettin’ all sweaty and sticky.

Now, for your bottom half. You can wear shorts, the kind that ain’t too short, mind you. Don’t wanna be flashin’ folks. Or you can wear them stretchy pants, the… uh… leggings, I think they call ’em. Them things are good ‘cause they don’t get in the way. Just make sure they ain’t too tight, you gotta be able to breathe! Jeans? Nah, leave them jeans at home. They’re too stiff and heavy. You’ll be sweatin’ like a pig in those things.
- T-shirt: Comfy and loose
- Shorts or leggings: Not too tight, not too short
Shoes! That’s important. Can’t be wearin’ your Sunday best to a boxing class. You need shoes that got a good grip, so you don’t go slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place. Them tennis shoes you wear for walkin’ are alright, I guess. But them special boxin’ shoes, they’re the best. They’re light and they got that sticky bottom so you can move quick. If you ain’t got them, just wear somethin’ comfy and sturdy. Don’t you dare go wearin’ your flip-flops, you’ll break your fool neck!
Now, let’s talk about… uh… what do they call it… support? Yeah, support. Ladies, you know what I’m talkin’ about. You gotta wear one of them… bra things… that holds everything in place. You don’t want things bouncin’ around when you’re punchin’ and movin’. It ain’t comfortable, and it don’t look right neither. And fellas, if you need support down there, well, you get the picture. Keep things snug and secure, that’s what I say.
And don’t forget socks! Gotta wear socks, keep your feet from gettin’ all blistery and gross. Ankle socks are good, or those longer ones if you like. Just make sure they ain’t too thick, your feet will get too hot. And for goodness sake, make sure them socks are clean! Nobody wants to smell your stinky feet.
Some folks wear them… hand wraps, I think. They wrap ‘em around their hands under their gloves. Keeps your knuckles from gettin’ all beat up. If you’re just startin’ out, you might not need ‘em right away. But if you’re serious ‘bout this boxin’ stuff, you’ll want to get some. Keeps your hands from gettin’ all bruised and banged up. You don’t want to end up with hands that look like mashed potatoes, do ya?

Gloves! Can’t forget about the gloves. That’s the whole point of boxing, ain’t it? Most gyms got gloves you can borrow, specially when you’re just startin’ out. But if you’re gonna stick with it, you might wanna get your own. Make sure they fit good and snug. Too loose and they’ll slip off, too tight and your hands will go numb. And make sure they got enough padding, you don’t wanna hurt your hands or the other fella… or lady.
And one last thing, bring a towel. You’re gonna sweat, a lot. And bring some water, gotta stay hydrated. Don’t wanna pass out in the middle of class, that ain’t no good. So, there you have it. That’s what you wear to a boxing class. Nothin’ fancy, just comfy and practical clothes that let you move around and get a good workout. Now get out there and punch somethin’!
Remember, it ain’t about lookin’ pretty, it’s about bein’ able to move and not gettin’ hurt. So, don’t you go frettin’ about fashion. Just wear somethin’ that works and feels good. And have fun! That’s what matters most. If you ain’t havin’ fun, what’s the point?
And listen, don’t you worry if you don’t have all this fancy stuff right away. Just start with the basics and go from there. The most important thing is that you show up and give it your all. And don’t forget to listen to your coach, they know what they’re talkin’ about. They’ll teach you how to punch and move right. And they’ll make sure you don’t get hurt. Now go on, get to it!
And one more thing, if you got long hair, tie it back. Don’t want it gettin’ in your face when you’re tryin’ to punch. Nobody wants a face full of hair, specially when they’re swingin’ their fists. So tie it up tight, out of your way, and you’ll be good to go.
