Okay, so I was watching an NBA game with my friend the other day, and he asked me a question I honestly couldn’t answer right away: “How many quarters are there in an NBA game?” I felt a little silly not knowing off the top of my head, so I decided I had to figure it out for sure, and you know, document the whole process ’cause why not?
My Quest for the Number of Quarters
First, I did what anyone would do – I grabbed my phone and googled it. You know, just a quick search to get the basic answer. I typed in “how many quarters in an NBA game” and boom, there it was.

- I saw the answer pretty much immediately on the search results page.
But I didn’t stop there. Oh no. I clicked on a couple of those search result links to check things, just to make sure I was getting the right information from, you know, reliable sources. I wanted to have the information in detail.
I scrolled through those pages, reading the explanations. I looked at few different pages, just scanning.
The Big Reveal (Spoiler: It’s Not That Big)
So, after all that intense “research” (aka, a few minutes of Googling), I had my answer, clear as day: There are four quarters in an NBA game. Each of quarter is 12 minutes, off course, I also get the details about the minutes of the quarters.
I felt a wave of accomplishment, I won’t lie. Now I can finally tell my friend what I found. Four quarters! Easy peasy.
