You know, these crosswords, they got all sorts of tricks up their sleeves. This “combination” one, it’s a real head-scratcher. Like, what do they even mean? Are we talking about mixing things up? Or maybe putting things together? It’s enough to make your head spin, I tell ya.
Now, they say some of these answers are just five letters long, like “union”. Well, that makes sense, don’t it? When folks get together, they make a union. But then they say there’s one with six letters, “merger”. Sounds like big business stuff, companies merging and all that. Not really my cup of tea, but if it fits in the puzzle, it fits.

They got all sorts of words, you see. Some big, some small. They even got words with seven letters, like “amalgam”. Now, I ain’t never used that word in my life, but they say it means a mix of things. Guess it fits, considering we’re talking about combinations here.
- Union
- Merger
- Amalgam
It’s like they’re playing games with your mind. You start thinking one way, then they throw you a curveball. You gotta keep your wits about ya, or you’ll be lost in a sea of letters. But that’s the fun of it, ain’t it? Figuring it all out, piece by piece.
I heard somewhere they got millions of clues, these crossword folks. Millions! Can you believe it? No wonder my head hurts sometimes. But it’s a good kind of hurt, the kind you get when you’re using your brain. Keeps you sharp, they say.
And the letters, oh, the letters! They can go from two letters all the way up to fifteen! Fifteen letters, can you imagine? That’s a whole lotta letters. Makes you wonder how they come up with all these words. Must be some smart cookies, those crossword makers.
They say you can search for answers, too. Got some kind of solver engine, they call it. Millions of clues, right there at your fingertips. But where’s the fun in that? I like to figure things out on my own, even if it takes me all day. Makes you appreciate the answer more, you know?

And sometimes, they give you clues to the clues. Like, they say “combination” has been spotted eighteen times. Eighteen times! That’s a lot of combinations, ain’t it? And they got combinations of four letters, and combinations of nine letters. It’s enough to make you dizzy.
But you know what? I ain’t giving up. I’ll sit here with my pencil and my paper, and I’ll keep trying until I get it right. It might take me a while, but I’ll get there. After all, it’s just a combination, right? How hard can it be?
