Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard, ya know, those basketball fellas. Always hear folks chattin’ about ’em. Seems like they’re pretty good at tossin’ the ball in the hoop, if ya catch my drift.
Now, Mitchell, he’s a young fella, full of energy. Runs around like a chicken with its head cut off, but gets the job done. Scores a lot, they say. Twenty-five somethin’ points per game? That’s a lot of points, ain’t it? My grandson used to play basketball, never scored that many, I tell ya.

- Mitchell scores lots of points
- He’s a quick runner
- Folks say he’s young and energetic
Then there’s Lillard. Been around longer, like my old rocking chair. Seen a thing or two, probably. Folks say he’s steady, knows what he’s doin’. Scores about the same as Mitchell, they say. Twenty-five somethin’ too. Must be somethin’ in that number, eh? My lucky number’s seven, always has been.
Heard they played against each other a bunch of times. Mitchell won more, they say. Fourteen to seven, somethin’ like that. Numbers, numbers. My head spins with all these numbers. But winnin’s good, ain’t it? Everyone likes a winner. My grandson won a ribbon once, for jumpin’ rope. Proudest day of my life, almost.
Lillard, he’s been an All-Star eight times. That’s a lot of times, ain’t it? Like bein’ the best pie at the county fair eight times over. Everyone wants a piece of that pie. Or, ya know, to watch him play basketball. People are strange.
Mitchell, he’s gettin’ better, they say. Learnin’ new tricks, like a young pup. Lillard, he’s like an old dog, knows all the tricks already. But old dogs can still bite, don’t ya forget that.
- Lillard is experienced
- He’s an eight-time All-Star
- People say he’s steady and reliable
Heard they’re both guards. Guard the basket, I guess. Keep the other fellas from scorin’. Important job, that. Like keepin’ the chickens outta the garden. Gotta be quick, gotta be smart.

Mitchell, he got drafted in 2017. Seems like yesterday. Time flies, don’t it? Lillard, he got drafted in 2012. Five years earlier. That’s a long time in basketball years, or dog years, or whatever they call it.
People compare ’em all the time. Who’s better? Who’s gonna win? Reminds me of the pie contest at the fair. Everyone’s got their favorite. Me, I like apple pie. Simple, sweet, gets the job done.
Mitchell’s got a good record against Lillard. Fourteen to seven, remember? That’s somethin’ to brag about. My grandson used to brag about his jump rope ribbon. Kids, eh? Always gotta be the best at somethin’.
So, who’s better? Mitchell or Lillard? Dunno. Depends on what ya like, I guess. Fast and young, or steady and experienced? Like choosin’ between a fresh-baked cookie and a good ol’ piece of bread. Both are good, just different.
In the end, they’re just fellas playin’ basketball. Throwin’ a ball in a hoop. People cheer, people boo. Life goes on. My garden still needs waterin’, and the chickens need feedin’. That’s what matters to me.
