Alright, so you got them boxing gloves, huh? Sweaty mess after punchin’ stuff, ain’t they? Gotta dry ’em out good, or they’ll stink somethin’ awful, and nobody wants that, right?
First thing’s first, don’t go throwin’ them in the dryer like them fancy folks might do with their clothes. No sir, that’ll just mess ’em up somethin’ fierce. Too much heat, them gloves’ll get all outta shape, crack and what not. Same goes for leavin’ ’em out in the sun, yeah, the sun seems nice and all, but it’ll age them gloves quicker than a rooster crows at dawn.

What ya wanna do is, find ya a good spot with plenty of air. Open them gloves up real wide and leave ’em standin’ up. That way the air can get inside and dry ’em all over. Think about hangin’ your laundry out on the line, same kinda deal, just not as out in the open, especially in the bright sun.
- Wipe ’em down good: After you’re done beatin’ up that punchin’ bag, take a towel and wipe them gloves all over. Inside and out. Get all that sweat off ’em, ’cause that sweat is what makes ’em stinky and nasty.
- Air ’em out: Like I said, find a nice airy place. Don’t just leave ’em in your gym bag, they’ll never dry that way! Let ’em breathe!
- Stuff ’em with newspaper: Now, here’s a little trick my granny taught me. Scrunch up some newspaper, make two balls outta it, and shove ’em in them gloves. Newspaper soaks up all that wetness, and it helps keep them gloves open so the air can get in. Leave it in there for a few hours, it does wonders. It also helps if you have sweaty hands and live in a humid climate.
Some folks say you can use them fancy glove dryers, but I say, why spend the money? Air and newspaper work just fine, been doin’ it that way for years. If you ain’t got no newspaper, just use some old rags or somethin’.
Now, how long’s it gonna take to dry? Well, that depends on how wet they are. If they are drenched in sweat, it could take all day, maybe even longer. But if you wiped them down good, and put some newspaper in, they should be dry in a few hours, maybe overnight. Just make sure you check ’em before you use ’em again, don’t want no soggy gloves.
And listen here, you gotta do this every time you use them gloves. Don’t be lazy about it, or you’ll regret it. Them gloves will start to stink so bad, you’ll be able to smell ‘em from across the room. And then nobody will wanna spar with you, ’cause you’ll stink like a skunk died in your gym bag. Seriously, nobody wants that.
And one more thing, never store your gloves in a plastic bag. That will trap the moisture and encourage bacterial growth, causing a terrible smell. Always store your boxing gloves in a dry, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight. You want to keep them nice and dry. It is important to take care of boxing gloves as they are an investment. Good gloves aren’t cheap so proper care is vital to keeping your investment worthwhile.

So, there ya have it. Nothin’ fancy, just good ol’ common sense. Keep them gloves dry, and they’ll last ya a long time. And you won’t stink up the whole gym, which is a good thing for everyone.
Now get back to punchin’, but remember what I told ya, keep ’em dry, ya hear?
