Alright, let’s talk about this here… uh… “f1 powerboat alton” thing. Don’t rightly know what all them fancy words mean, but I reckon it’s about them fast boats down by the river. You know, the ones that go zoom-zoom!
So, what’s the deal with these f1 powerboat things in Alton? Well, from what I hear, they’re havin’ a big race, a real big one. They call it the “f1 powerboat alton midwest championship”. Sounds mighty important, don’t it? They say it’s comin’ to Alton, down by the riverfront, June 21st to 23rd. That’s right around the corner, ain’t it? Gotta mark that on the calendar, right next to when the tomatoes need waterin’.

Now, I ain’t never seen nothin’ like these boats before. They say these things are real fast, like, super-duper fast. Someone told me they go, what, 120 miles per hour? Land sakes! That’s faster than old man Johnson drivin’ his pickup truck down the highway after a jug of moonshine. They also got some smaller boats, the “Factory 1” boats, them go about 80 miles per hour. Still mighty fast, I reckon. And them little boats, they cost a pretty penny too, like 80,000 to 100,000 dollars! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I tell ya.
Anyways, this ain’t just some little get-together. It’s a whole championship thing. Like, the best of the best come here to race them boats. They come from all over, I guess. It’s a big deal for Alton, that’s for sure. Brings in lots of folks, lots of excitement. And that’s good for business, I reckon. More folks means more money for everyone, right? Even old Martha down at the diner might make a few extra pies.
Why Alton, you ask? Well, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon it’s ’cause we got that big ol’ Mississippi River. Perfect for racin’ boats, don’t ya think? It’s wide and long, and I guess it’s deep enough for them fancy boats to zoom around without hittin’ nothin’. Plus, we got a nice riverfront, pretty as a picture, specially when the sun sets. Makes for a good place to watch them boats, I suppose.
- Date: June 21-23, 2024
- Location: Alton Riverfront, Illinois
- What: F1 Powerboat Midwest Championship
- Speed: Up to 120 mph (some boats go 80 mph)
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do that weekend, head on down to the riverfront. You can watch them fast boats go zoom-zoom. It’ll be loud, it’ll be excitin’, and it’ll be somethin’ different. I might even go myself, if I can find someone to watch the chickens. Just gotta remember to bring my earplugs, ’cause them boats are loud as a thunderstorm, I hear.
They also got these smaller boats, the “Factory 1” boats. They’re for folks just startin’ out, I think. They’re cheaper, but still go pretty darn fast. So, if you ever wanted to get into boat racin’, I guess that’s the place to start. Not that I would, mind you. I’m too old for that kind of excitement. I’ll stick to watchin’ from the shore, thank you very much.

And that’s about all I know about this “f1 powerboat alton” thing. It’s a big race, with fast boats, comin’ to Alton soon. Go check it out if you want. Just don’t forget your sunscreen and your earplugs. And maybe a hat, ‘cause it gets mighty hot down by the river in June. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them tomatoes.
