Okay, so I needed to figure out how to get my tennis rackets to my vacation spot without them getting busted up. I play tennis like every other day, so I am not going without them.
First, I got online to see what other people were doing. Apparently, you can bring your rackets on a plane, so that was good news. But there are some things you gotta know to make sure they don’t get damaged or, you know, confiscated by airport security or something.
I started by wrapping each of my rackets in a bunch of bubble wrap. I mean, I went to town with that stuff. Better safe than sorry, right? Then, I grabbed one of those hard-shell tennis bags. It’s super sturdy, and I figured it would give my rackets the best chance of surviving the trip.
- First, Bubble wrap the hell out of the rackets.
- Then, Grabbed a sturdy tennis bag.
Next, I checked the airline’s website to see their rules on sports equipment. It is important cause they all have different rules. Thankfully, they were cool with tennis rackets, but they had some size and weight limits. I made sure my bag was within those limits, so I wouldn’t have any surprises at the airport.
Heading to the Airport
When I got to the airport, I went to the check-in counter. The lady there was super nice. She tagged my bag as “fragile” which made me feel a bit better. I also made sure to ask if there were any extra fees for checking in sports equipment. Luckily, there weren’t, but it’s always good to double-check.
At the security checkpoint, I had to take my rackets out of the bag and put them through the scanner separately. It was a bit of a hassle, but the TSA guys were pretty chill about it. They’ve probably seen it all, right?
Once I got to my destination, I went straight to the baggage claim area. I was kinda nervous, not gonna lie. But there was my bag, safe and sound. I grabbed it, opened it up, and checked my rackets. They were perfect! Not a scratch on them. I did it! They made it!

So yeah, that’s how I traveled with my tennis rackets. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. I got to play tennis on my vacation, and my rackets made it there and back in one piece. If you’re planning on traveling with your rackets, just follow these steps, and you should be good to go!
