Back in the 2017-18 season, them Minnesota Timberwolves had a pretty good team, I reckon. They finished with a record of 47-35, which ain’t bad, you know. Not the best, but certainly better than some others, for sure. They was sittin’ pretty in the NBA’s Northwest Division, right there in the Western Conference. Now, they didn’t go all the way, mind ya, ’cause they lost in the postseason, 1-4. But that don’t mean they didn’t have some good players on their team.
The team had some solid folks that season, like Jeff Teague runnin’ the point guard position, and then there was Jimmy Butler, he was the shooting guard. Pretty good combo, if ya ask me. They also had Andrew Wiggins at small forward. Boy, he could move, I’ll tell ya that. Then, don’t forget Karl-Anthony Towns, the big fella in the middle. He was their top player, drafted first in the 2015 NBA Draft. Everybody was talkin’ about him back then, and he didn’t disappoint. Had a big role in the team’s success.

Now, let’s talk about some other folks. You had Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford on the bench, bringin’ some veteran presence. Don’t forget about the rookie, Justin Patton, though he didn’t play too much that year. But it was good to have him as part of the squad, learnin’ and all that.
Here’s a quick rundown of the 2017-18 roster:
- Jeff Teague – Point Guard
- Jimmy Butler – Shooting Guard
- Andrew Wiggins – Small Forward
- Karl-Anthony Towns – Power Forward
- Gorgui Dieng – Center
- Taj Gibson – Forward
- Jamal Crawford – Guard
- Nemanja Bjelica – Forward
- Tyus Jones – Guard
- Marcus Georges-Hunt – Guard
- Justin Patton – Center
Now, let’s talk about some of them numbers. The Timberwolves, under Coach Tom Thibodeau, worked hard that season. Their defense wasn’t the best in the league, but they certainly played tough. Their offense, though, was a bit better. Towns was the big scorer, but Wiggins and Butler were there too, pitchin’ in with some points. But sometimes, the team had a little trouble in the playoffs, couldn’t really make it past the first round. It’s a shame, but that’s how it goes sometimes in basketball.
And folks always remember the trade for Jimmy Butler, too. He was the big get that year, and he had his moments. Didn’t quite get them all the way to the top, but they did make the playoffs, which had been a long time comin’ for the Timberwolves. Fans had been waitin’ for that for years.
Some of the team stats for that season:

- Record: 47-35
- Division: Northwest
- Playoffs: 1-4 (lost in first round)
- Top scorer: Karl-Anthony Towns
- Assists leader: Jeff Teague
- Rebounds leader: Karl-Anthony Towns
So, all in all, that 2017-18 Timberwolves team was decent. They worked hard, they had some good players, and they made the playoffs. It wasn’t the championship run they was hopin’ for, but they had a lot to be proud of. And for them fans, they’d been waitin’ a long time to see their team back in the postseason, so it was a big deal. Now, they’re lookin’ to do even better in the seasons after that, but back then, 47-35 was a sign they were gettin’ somewhere.
