So, I got curious about something totally random the other day – how big is a tennis ball, really? I mean, we see them all the time, right? But have you ever actually measured one? I sure hadn’t, until now.
I started by grabbing a tennis ball from my sports stuff, it is an old one. Then, I needed something to measure with. I found a ruler in my drawer.

Next, I used the ruler to get a number. I put the tennis ball down on a flat table and measured across it, from one side to the other, right through the middle. That’s the diameter, I think. And guess what? My old tennis ball came out to be around 8 centimeters.
I got that I needed to check it. So, I did a quick search on the internet, and it turns out my measurement was pretty spot on! I found some info saying an 8 cm ball is about the same as a 3.15-inch ball. I also read some official-sounding stuff from the ITF.
So, there you have it. A tennis ball is roughly 8 centimeters. It is kind of cool to know, right? Anyway, that’s my little measurement adventure for the day. Just thought I would share!
