Okay, here’s my blog post about cleaning a table tennis bat, written in a casual, first-person style:
So, the other day, I noticed my ping pong paddle was looking pretty grim. Like, seriously dusty and kinda sticky. I figured it was probably affecting my game – you know, less spin, less control, all that bad stuff. So, I decided to finally give it a good cleaning. I did looked around for how to do,And I’d like share my way about how to clean it!

Getting Started
First, I grabbed a few things I figured I’d need:
- A soft sponge – the kind you’d use for dishes, but a new, clean one, obviously!
- Some lukewarm water. Not too hot, not too cold. Just, you know, comfy.
- A microfiber cloth. I use these for my glasses, so I knew it wouldn’t scratch anything.
The Cleaning Process
I started by gently dampening the sponge with the lukewarm water. I made sure to squeeze out most of the water – I didn’t want it dripping wet, just a little damp. I gently cleaned it.
Then, I started wiping the rubber surface of the paddle. I went in small, circular motions, being careful not to scrub too hard. I just wanted to loosen up any dirt or grime that was stuck on there. And, I can saw some dirt had been cleaned on the sponge!
I rinsed the sponge a few times and kept wiping until I felt like I’d gotten most of the gunk off. I did both sides of the paddle, of course.
Drying and Finishing Up
Once I was happy with the cleaning, I grabbed my microfiber cloth. I used it to gently dry the rubber surfaces, again using those small, circular motions. The key here is to make sure it’s completely dry before you put it away. I lefted it to dry completely

I let the paddle air dry for a little while longer, just to be extra sure. I probably waited about 30 minutes, but you could probably get away with less. After that, I checked the rubber.
And that’s it! My paddle looked way better, and I swear it felt better in my hand, too. I’m definitely going to try to do this more often – maybe after every few games or so. It’s a super easy way to keep your paddle in good shape and, hopefully, improve your game a little bit!
