Okay, so I had this tennis match coming up, and honestly, figuring out what to wear was almost as stressful as the match itself! I wanted to look cute, but also, you know, be able to actually play tennis. Here’s how I went about it:
First, I checked the weather. Always gotta do that! It was supposed to be sunny and pretty warm, so I knew I needed something breathable. No way was I going to be stuck in something heavy and sweaty.

My Outfit-Picking Process
- Started with my closet: I dug through my workout clothes. I have a ton of leggings, but for tennis, I prefer a skirt or shorts. It just feels more… tennis-y, right?
- Found a couple of options: I pulled out a white pleated tennis skirt that I’ve had for a while and a pair of navy blue athletic shorts. Both were good, lightweight material.
- Considered a top: I needed something that wouldn’t restrict my movement. I grabbed a few tank tops – a basic white one, a light pink one, and one with a fun, sporty pattern.
- Tried everything on: This is key! I did some practice swings in the mirror (looking a little ridiculous, I’m sure) to make sure the skirt and shorts allowed for a full range of motion. I also made sure the tank tops didn’t ride up or feel too tight.
- Thought about the sun,I also dug around for a visor. Found it! A simple white one that would keep the sun out of my eyes.
After trying on a few combinations, I decided on the white tennis skirt and the patterned tank top. It felt comfortable, looked good, and most importantly, I felt like I could move freely in it. The shorts were a good backup, though.
Shoes and Accessories
Shoes were next, and that was easy. I only have one pair of tennis shoes! I made sure they were clean and the laces were tied tight.
I added a sweatband. Totally practical, plus it adds to the whole tennis vibe.
Finally, I packed everything in my bag, along with my racket, some water, and a towel. Feeling pretty good and ready to go! The whole process took maybe 30 minutes, but it was worth it to feel prepared and comfortable on the court.
