Well, let me tell ya about this William and Mary baseball thing. It’s somethin’, that’s for sure. These young fellers, they run around a field, hittin’ a ball and tryin’ to get back home. Sounds simple enough, but lawd, it gets complicated.

William and Mary Tribe Baseball, that’s what they call ’em. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Tribe? Like a bunch of Indians or somethin’. But they ain’t no Indians, just college boys playin’ ball. They been doin’ it for a long time too, since way back in 1895, I heard tell. That’s a heap of years, more than I can count on my fingers and toes, that’s for sure.
Now, this baseball, it ain’t just a game, it’s a whole schedule. A big ol’ list of games they gotta play. They call it the “2024 Baseball Schedule” or the “2023 William & Mary Baseball Schedule”, dependin’ on the year, I reckon. It’s got dates and who they’re playin’ against. They call them opponents, sounds serious, like they’re fightin’ a war or somethin’. But it’s just baseball, though sometimes them boys do get pretty riled up.
You can find this schedule all over the place, on the internet I guess. They got this “official Baseball page for the William & Mary The Tribe.” The internet, that’s a whole ‘nother story. It’s like magic, how they put all this stuff on there. You can find scores and records, and even if they won or lost a bunch of games in a row, they call that “streaks.” Like a tiger got streaks, but these are just baseball streaks, nothin’ to be scared of.
- They got this Facebook thing, where folks talk about the games.
- And Twitter, where they say short little things, like “Go Tribe!”
- Then there’s Instagram, with all them pictures. Folks takin’ pictures of everything these days.
These boys, they play in somethin’ called “NCAA Division I competition.” Big words, I tell ya. Means they’re playin’ against other colleges, the best of the best, I guess. And they ain’t just playin’ any old place, they playin’ in Williamsburg, Virginia. That’s a pretty town, I hear. Never been there myself, but I seen pictures.
And get this, they got a record. An “all-time record” they call it. Says they won 1,432 games and lost 1,565 games, and tied 12 times. Over 119 seasons! That’s a lot of baseball. More baseball than I ever seen in my life, that’s for sure. They got a .478 somethin’, I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important.

William & Mary, they got all sorts of sports, not just baseball. Twenty-three of ’em, they say. Varsity sports, they call ’em. And they all compete at this “Division I level.” Sounds fancy, huh? And they’re part of somethin’ called the “Coastal Athletic Association,” or CAA Sports for short. And get this, their baseball team even competes at somethin’ called “USA Baseball.” That sounds real important, like they’re playin’ for the whole country or somethin’. Good for them, I say.
So, if you wanna know when these William and Mary boys are playin’, you gotta look at that schedule. It’ll tell ya everything ya need to know. Who they’re playin’, when they’re playin’, and where they’re playin’. Just don’t ask me to explain all them baseball rules, ’cause I ain’t got a clue. I just like watchin’ them boys run around and hit that ball. It’s entertainin’, ya know?
And if you’re lookin’ for tickets, well, you gotta go find that ticket information on the internet or somethin’. They sell tickets, just like at the movies, but instead of watchin’ a picture show, you watch them boys play ball. It’s a whole thing, I tell ya, this William and Mary baseball.
