Okay, so today I decided to tackle this whole “Mike Ditka Halloween” thing. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure where to start, but that’s part of the fun, right?
Digging In
First, I Googled “Mike Ditka Halloween costume” to get some ideas. I mean, you gotta see what other folks have done, yeah? I saw a bunch of different approaches, some super detailed, some pretty basic.

Gathering Supplies
Next, I figured out what I needed. Based on my quick search, the core elements seemed to be:
- A navy blue sweater vest (preferably with that Bears “C” logo)
- A white collared shirt
- Khaki pants
- A fake mustache (a MUST)
- Aviator sunglasses
- (Optional) A cigar
I raided my closet first. Found some khakis, a white shirt, boom! Halfway there. Then I hit up a local thrift store. Scored a perfect navy blue sweater vest for like five bucks! No Bears logo, but hey, I can work with that.
The Mustache Dilemma
The mustache was tricky. I didn’t want to go with some cheap, obviously fake-looking thing. I ended up getting one of those slightly nicer ones from a costume shop. Still looked a little goofy, but better than the alternatives.
Adding Details
I Borrowed Aviator Sunglasses from my friend, and it looks cool!
The Final Look
I put it all together, and… it was pretty good! Not perfect, but definitely recognizable as Da Coach. I even practiced my best Ditka growl in the mirror. My wife just rolled her eyes, but I think I nailed it.

So, that’s my Mike Ditka Halloween costume adventure. It was fun, a little silly, and definitely a good way to spend an afternoon. Now, I just gotta find a party to show it off at!
