Alright, so you wanna know about them Minnesota Timberwolves fellas from back in 2016? Lemme tell ya, that bunch was somethin’ else. Now, I ain’t no expert on them basketball games, ya know, but I seen a few matches on the TV when I was visitin’ my sister. She’s got one of them fancy TVs, colors are real bright, makes the fellas runnin’ around look like they’re right there in your livin’ room.
So, this 2016 team, they was called the Timberwolves. Funny name, ain’t it? Wolves in the woods, I get. But in a basketball game? Eh, who knows what them city folks are thinkin’. Anyways, these fellas, they played for somethin’ called the NBA. Big deal, apparently. Lots of fellas runnin’ up and down the court, throwin’ a ball in a hoop. Sounds simple enough, but lemme tell ya, they make a whole lotta fuss about it.
Now, I heard tell that this 2016 season was their 28th season. That’s a long time to be runnin’ after a ball, if you ask me. Must be important to some folks. And this season, well, it wasn’t exactly the best, from what I heard. They won some, they lost some. Mostly lost, I think. 31 wins and 51 losses, someone told me. That ain’t too good, is it? Guess they weren’t the top dogs that year.
- Seems like they had this fella named Zach LaVine. Young fella, drafted a couple years before. Folks said he was a good player, real quick. Jumped high and all that. But even he couldn’t carry the whole team, I reckon. Basketball’s a team thing, ain’t it? One fella can’t do it all.
- And they had a bunch of other fellas too, of course. Can’t remember all their names, too many for my old head. But they wore them jerseys with numbers, so you could tell ’em apart. Tall fellas, short fellas, all kinds. Runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball.
This Basketball-Reference place, they keep track of all them fellas and their numbers. Stats, they call ’em. Points and rebounds and assists and who knows what else. Too much for me to keep track of, to be honest. I just like watchin’ ’em run around, see who gets the ball in the hoop.
Now, this team, they started way back in 1989, I heard. Expansion team, they called it. Means they were new, just like when my nephew started his little garden out back. Took a while for it to grow, just like it took a while for the Timberwolves to get good. Struggled in the beginnin’, they did. Guess that’s how it goes with new things.
But back to 2016. They had a full roster of fellas, different positions and all that. Guards and forwards and centers, whatever that means. Like different jobs in the field, I suppose. Some fellas plant, some fellas water, some fellas harvest. Same thing with basketball, different jobs for different fellas.
This season, 2016-17, started in April of 2016. Springtime, when things start growin’. But the Timberwolves, they weren’t exactly sproutin’ wins left and right. Still, they kept playin’. That’s important, ain’t it? Even when things ain’t goin’ your way, you gotta keep tryin’.
I don’t know much about playoffs and all that. Seems like they got these games at the end of the season, for the best teams. Timberwolves didn’t make it that year, I don’t think. Maybe next year, huh? Always hope for next year.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about them 2016 Timberwolves. A bunch of fellas playin’ basketball, winnin’ some, losin’ some. Just like life, ain’t it? Ups and downs, but you keep goin’. And maybe someday, you’ll be the top dog. Or wolf, in this case.
