Alright, so you wanna watch that Lions football game, huh? It ain’t always easy figuring out what channel it’s on, them TV folks like to make things complicated. But don’t you worry, I’ll tell ya what I know, even though I ain’t no fancy TV expert.

First thing you gotta know is when the game is. Is it that Thursday game, the one they play around Thanksgiving time? If it is, well, that one’s usually on CBS. You know, the one with the big eye. They like to show that game on Thanksgiving, big deal for them city folks I guess.
Now, if it ain’t that Thursday game, it could be on any of them other channels. Sometimes it’s on NBC, especially if it’s one of them fancy Sunday night games. You know, the ones where they turn on all them bright lights and make a big fuss. They call it “Sunday Night Football” or somethin’ like that. Heard tell it’s a big deal.
And then there’s that Fox channel. They show a lot of games too. Honestly, it’s like a whole bunch of channels and they just switch ‘em around whenever they feel like it. Drives me crazy sometimes, just trying to find the darn game.
But here’s the thing, if you don’t have cable, like me, you gotta figure out other ways to watch it. They got these things now called “streaming.” Sounds fancy, but it just means watchin’ it on the internet, I think. My grandkids told me about it. They say you can watch it on somethin’ called Fubo, or Paramount+, or even Sling. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, but they say it works.
- Fubo: They say this one gives you a free trial, whatever that means. Guess you can watch for a little bit for free, then gotta pay. Always tryin’ to get your money, them city folk.
- Paramount+: This one, they say, is connected to CBS, so if the game’s on CBS, you can probably watch it here too.
- Sling: This one’s another one of them streaming things. I don’t know much about it, but the kids say it works.
- DirectTV Stream: This one seems to be just like cable but on the internet. More fancy stuff.
- YouTube TV: This is like watching TV on your computer or phone, they say. Sounds complicated.
And if you just wanna listen to the game, you know, like on the radio, you can do that too. They got that WXYT-FM station, 97.1 on the dial, that plays the Lions games. That’s what my old man used to do, sit on the porch and listen to the game on the radio. Simpler times, I tell ya.

If you are really fancy and got that SiriusXM thing in your car, they got channels for the Lions games too. Channels 225 and 226, or so they say. But that’s for folks with too much money and too many buttons in their cars, if you ask me.
Now, sometimes them Lions play on a Sunday afternoon, sometimes it’s Sunday night, and sometimes even on a Thursday. And they play all sorts of teams, like the Cowboys, the Rams, the Bears. You just gotta keep an eye out, check the schedule. They got websites and apps now that tell you all that, but I still like to ask my neighbor, he always seems to know.
Speaking of the schedule, they say you can get a “personalized view” of it. Sounds like more city folk mumbo jumbo. But I guess it means you can set it up so you don’t miss a game. They probably got an app for that too. Everything’s an app these days.
So, to sum it up, finding the Lions game ain’t always easy. You gotta check CBS, NBC, or Fox for the TV channels. And if you ain’t got cable, you can try them Fubo, Paramount+, Sling, DirectTV Stream, or YouTube TV streaming things. And if you just wanna listen, there’s the radio, WXYT-FM 97.1, or that SiriusXM if you’re fancy. And for goodness sake, remember to check the schedule so you know when they’re playing and who they’re playing against!
That’s about all I know about watchin’ them Lions games. Hope it helps you find the channel, and I hope the Lions win! Though sometimes, they play so bad, you’d be better off watchin’ the grass grow.
