Alright, so you wanna know what channel is Tennessee football on, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t always the same. These TV folks, they like to switch things up on ya, just to keep ya on your toes, I reckon.
Sometimes, it’s on that ABC channel. You know, the one with all them fancy shows? Yeah, that one. If it’s a big game, like when they’re playin’ against Georgia or one of them other big-shot teams, it’ll probably be on ABC. But you gotta check, ya hear? Don’t just assume.

Other times, it might be on one of them ESPN channels. They got a whole bunch of ’em, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU… Lordy, it’s enough to make your head spin. If it ain’t on the main ESPN, sometimes it’s on that ESPN+ thing. That’s one of them fancy internet channels. You gotta pay extra for that one, I think. My grandson set it up for me. He’s good with them computer things.
And then there’s the SEC Network. That’s where they show a lot of them Southeastern Conference games, seein’ as Tennessee is part of that. Sometimes it’s on the regular SEC Network channel, and sometimes it’s on somethin’ called SEC Network+. Another one of them internet deals. See? I told ya it was complicated.
- Big games: Usually on ABC or ESPN
- Regular games: Maybe ESPN2, ESPNU, or SEC Network
- Sometimes on that internet stuff: ESPN+ and SEC Network+
Now, if they’re playin’ one of them smaller teams, like that UTEP team I heard about, it might not even be on TV at all. Can you believe that? They might just put it on that internet thing, ESPN+ or SEC Network+. It’s a shame, really. Not everyone’s got that fancy internet, ya know.
The best way to figure it out is to look it up online. My grandson showed me how to do it. You just type in “Tennessee football schedule” and it’ll tell you what channel the game is on. Or you can ask one of them young folks, they usually know about these things.
And don’t forget the time! These games, they ain’t always at the same time. Sometimes they’re in the afternoon, sometimes they’re in the evenin’. You don’t wanna miss the kickoff, do ya? So make sure you check the time too. They had that Vanderbilt game at noon one time. Who plays football at noon? Crazy, I tell ya.

Speaking of Vanderbilt, that’s a big game for Tennessee. It’s what they call a rivalry game. Means they don’t like each other too much, I guess. Those games are usually on one of the main channels, like ABC or ESPN. But like I said, always check to be sure. Don’t wanna be flippin’ through channels when the game’s already started.
So, to recap, figuring out what channel the Tennessee game is on ain’t always easy. You gotta check the schedule, see who they’re playin’, and then look for it on ABC, ESPN, SEC Network, or maybe one of them internet channels. And don’t forget to check the time! It’s a whole lot of work, just to watch a football game, but hey, that’s how they do things these days.
And remember, even if you can’t find it on TV, you can always listen to it on the radio. That’s how we used to do it back in the day, and it worked just fine. Sometimes, I think I liked it better that way. You could just close your eyes and imagine the whole game in your head. Much better than staring at that flashy screen all day.
So there you have it. That’s all I know about what channel Tennessee football is on. Hope it helps ya out. And go Vols!
