Okay, so I saw this question floating around the internet: “Has an NBA team ever scored 200 points?” It got me thinking, and I figured, why not dive into this myself? So, I started digging.
My Research Process
First, I hit up Google – my usual go-to for these kinds of random questions. I typed in something like “highest scoring NBA games” and started sifting through the results.
What I found was interesting:
- Regular Season: I stumbled upon a bunch of articles talking about the Detroit Pistons vs. Denver Nuggets game back in 1983. It was a triple-overtime game, and the final score was 186-184. Pistons won it. Crazy high-scoring, but still not 200.
- Playoffs: I then specifically searched for high-scoring playoff games. The highest I could find was 157 points, scored by the Boston Celtics way back in 1990. Again, not even close to 200.
So, after spending a good amount of time looking at different websites and forums, I came to the conclusion that no, no NBA team has ever officially cracked the 200-point mark in a single game, regular season, or playoffs.
It’s kind of wild to think about a team scoring that much. I mean, 186 points is already insane! 200 just seems like a whole other level of scoring. But hey, records are made to be broken, right? Maybe someday we’ll see it happen, but for now, it looks like it’s still just a basketball fantasy.
