Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this game called NBA 2K24, trying to figure out this whole “Real Player Percentage” thing. It’s been a bit of a head-scratcher, but I think I’ve finally got a handle on it. Let me walk you through what I’ve discovered.
First off, I jumped into an offline game. I went straight to the controller settings and switched the shooting mode to “Real Player %”. That was my starting point. After playing a few games like this, I started to notice a pattern. It felt like whenever I pressed the shoot button, the game was basically rolling the dice based on my player’s skills, not how well I timed the shot.
Then, I tried to tweak some things.
- I messed with the shooting sliders, setting them to around 55-56.
- I pushed the shot impact timing all the way down to 0 for both myself and the computer.
- I also played around with the jumpshot defensive strength sliders, putting them at 15 for both user and CPU.
Doing all this, it felt like a whole different ball game, much more balanced. But back to the Real Player Percentage. I figured it had very little RNG, or “Random Number Generation” – basically, less randomness. I did a few more games, and yeah, it really seemed like the game was just giving me an average result based on my player’s shooting rating every time I hit that button, regardless of my timing.
Diving Deeper
Next, I took my experiment to the online mode, “The Park.” Now, here’s where it got tricky. There’s no clear setting for Real Player Percentage in the online settings menu. But, I had a hunch that maybe the offline setting carried over. So, I played a bunch of games in The Park, and guess what? I never saw the usual shot timing feedback during the games. It seemed like my offline setting was indeed affecting my online play.
Finally, it clicked. It’s kind of like saying, “Hey, let the player’s stats do the talking.” If my guy’s a good shooter in the game, he’s gonna make more shots, simple as that. It doesn’t matter if I’m a pro at timing my shots perfectly; the game is designed to honor the player’s built-in abilities.
So, that’s my take on the Real Player Percentage in NBA 2K24. It’s all about letting the game simulate real basketball shooting percentages based on the players’ stats. Hope this helps some of you guys out there who were as confused as I was!
