Okay, so I’ve been seeing a ton of chatter online about NBA 2K24, especially on Reddit. People are going back and forth about whether it’s worth the money. I figured, you know what, I’m gonna dive in and see for myself. So, I grabbed a copy and started playing.
First Impressions
My very first step, obviously, was firing up the game. Honestly, the graphics, right off the bat, were pretty slick. I mean, the player models look super realistic, and the arenas? They really nailed the atmosphere.

Gameplay Deep Dive
After getting over the initial “wow” factor, it’s time to play the game.
- Shooting: The shooting felt a bit different. It seemed like timing was even more crucial than before. I bricked a few wide-open shots at first, but I started to get the hang of it. You gotta practice, that is for sure.
- Defense: Playing defense felt tighter, which I liked. Stealing felt a little more rewarding, and getting a good block felt awesome.
- Dribbling: I noticed some new dribble moves. I tried to get fancy a few times and, well, turned the ball over. So, more practice for me.
Game Modes
I usually jump between MyCareer and MyTeam, so those were the next stops.
- MyCareer: I started building my player, and the storyline seemed pretty engaging. I’m not gonna spoil anything, but it felt like there was more to do this year.
- MyTeam: MyTeam is where you build your fantasy team. Pulling packs is always a gamble, and honestly, I didn’t get anything crazy good at first. Grinding out challenges and games is the way to go, it seems.
The Big Question: Is it worth it?
So, after spending a good chunk of time with NBA 2K24, here’s my take. If you’re a HUGE basketball fan like me, and you play every year, I think you’ll find the improvements. The gameplay feels tighter, and the presentation is top-notch.
However, I understand some other user’s concerns.
It’s not a massive overhaul from last year’s * you’re on the fence, maybe wait for a sale or check out some more gameplay videos. But for me, personally? I’m enjoying it. I’m gonna keep grinding, keep practicing, and keep trying to build that dream team.
