So, I’ve been thinking about hitting up some NBA preseason games, and I finally took the plunge this year. I’ve always wondered, are they really worth the time and money?
First, I scoped out the schedule. Figured I’d see which teams were playing and when. Looked at prices, some of the local games are pretty cheap.

Then, I picked a game. It was my local team’s game, so I was really excited. I figured it was worth a shot to see the team up close without the insane regular season ticket prices.
Next, I grabbed some tickets. I went online, found the price, and booked it, super easy process.
The Game Day!
Got to the arena, and the vibe was way more chill than a regular season game. Fewer people, shorter lines, it was kinda nice, to be honest. You could actually move around, grab some food without a ridiculous wait.
I settled into my seat and, yeah, the play was… different. The starters played, like, maybe a quarter or two? You definitely see some of the benchwarmers and younger guys getting more minutes, which is cool in its own way. It’s like a sneak peek at the potential future of the team.
Watched the whole game, it was a good time. The energy isn’t the same as a game that counts, obviously, but it’s still basketball. Still got to see some dunks, some decent plays, and get a feel for the team’s style.

After the game,I went home with my friend.
My Final Thoughts
So, was it worth it? Honestly, for the price I paid, yeah. I’d say it is. It’s not the high-stakes, intense atmosphere of the regular season, but it’s a fun, affordable way to see some NBA action, check out the team’s new players, and just enjoy a game without the massive crowds. If you’re a die-hard fan, or just curious, I’d recommend checking one out. But if you are a crazy fan, you would be disappointed.
