Alright, let’s gab about these here preseason NFL games, y’know, the ones that don’t really count for nothin’. Are they worth it? Well, that depends on who you’re askin’, I reckon.
Some folks, they get all fired up for any kinda football. They wanna see them fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ the ball, knockin’ each other down. It don’t matter if it’s the real deal or just practicin’, they’re happy as a pig in mud. And you know what, good for them! If watchin’ the boys run around a bit gets you goin’, who am I to say it ain’t worth it? I heard some folks say going to the third preseason game is fun because you get to see the starting players for a bit. Makes sense, I guess.

But then you got the other kind, the ones who say, “Pshaw, preseason? That ain’t real football!” They say it’s just a bunch of backups and rookies tryin’ to make the team. And they got a point, y’know. Most of the big-name players, they barely play in these games. They don’t wanna risk gettin’ hurt before the season even starts. Smart fellas, I say. Gotta protect them golden arms and legs.
- Coaches and Players: Now, for the coaches and some of them players, preseason is serious business. It’s their chance to see who’s got what it takes to play in the big leagues. They gotta figure out who to keep and who to let go. It’s like sortin’ through a pile of potatoes, keepin’ the good ones and tossin’ the rotten ones. Coaches use these games to see how players perform, how well they understand the plays, and if they can handle the pressure. They are trying to make big decisions about the team, so for them it is important.
- Gamblers and Fantasy Football Folks: Then you got them gamblers and fantasy football nuts. They’re watchin’ these games like a hawk, tryin’ to get a leg up on the competition. They wanna see who’s gonna be the breakout star, who’s gonna be a bust. They’re lookin’ for any little clue that’ll help ’em win some money or beat their buddies. For them it’s all about gathering information.
But what about the regular folks, the ones who just wanna watch some good football? Is it worth it for them to spend their hard-earned money on preseason tickets? Well, that’s where it gets tricky. I heard tell that tickets can be right pricey, even for these games that don’t matter. And if you’re payin’ top dollar, you might expect to see the stars playin’, not a bunch of youngsters tryin’ to make a name for themselves.
Now, I heard they got a bunch of ways to watch these games nowadays. You can go to the stadium, of course, but you can also watch ’em on TV or even on your phone, I reckon. And they say more folks are watchin’ these games on TV and online than ever before. Millions of folks are tunin’ in, so somebody must think it’s worth somethin’. Maybe it’s just somethin’ to do, somethin’ to pass the time ’til the real games start. Or maybe folks just like seein’ some kinda football, even if it ain’t the best.
The NFL, they use these games for other stuff too, not just for the players and coaches. They use ’em to try out new rules, new equipment, and even new ways of broadcastin’ the games. They are watchin’ what the people like and don’t like. It’s like a big ol’ experiment, I guess. And the NFL is collecting a lot of information from watching these games.
So, are preseason NFL games worth it? Like I said, it depends on who you’re askin’. If you’re a coach or a player on the bubble, then yeah, it’s probably worth it. If you’re a gambler or a fantasy football nut, then maybe it’s worth it too. But if you’re just a regular fan lookin’ for some good football, you might be better off waitin’ ’til the regular season starts. That’s when the games really matter, when the players are givin’ it their all. I’ve heard tell that unless those starters are playing, paying a lot of money for a ticket probably isn’t worth it. That’s just my two cents, of course. You do what you think is best. You know what they say, different strokes for different folks.

But one thing’s for sure, come regular season, everybody and their brother will be glued to the TV, cheerin’ on their favorite team. And that’s when the real fun begins.
