Hey, listen up now, if you’re headin’ to a NASCAR race, ya gotta be prepared. Ain’t like goin’ down to the grocery store, no sir! There’s a few things you’re gonna wanna pack so’s ya don’t end up roastin’ in the sun or wishin’ ya had a cushion to sit on. Let ol’ granny tell ya what ya need to take, so ya have yourself a good time out there.
1. Sunscreen & Sunglasses
Now first thing first, you’re gonna need sunscreen. That sun don’t mess around, and there ain’t no roof over your head. Take yourself some good sunscreen, SPF 50 or more – don’t be skimpin’ here! Slap that stuff on every part of skin stickin’ out, else you’ll be redder than a boiled lobster by the end of the day. Don’t forget some sunglasses too; those big ol’ shades will help ya see what’s goin’ on without squintin’ the whole time.
2. Earplugs
Now, listen here, NASCAR races ain’t for the quiet folks. Those engines’ll be screamin’! If ya wanna leave with yer hearin’ still intact, bring some earplugs. These races are LOUD. You can buy earplugs at the race, but it’s better to get some good ones before ya go. Pop ‘em in whenever the engines get goin’.
3. Comfortable Seat Cushion
Now, them seats ain’t exactly soft, let me tell ya. You’re gonna be sittin’ there for hours, and trust me, yer backside’s gonna get tired. Bring along a cushion or a soft blanket to sit on. Make yourself comfortable so ya can focus on the race, not on how sore yer seat’s gettin’. And a blanket’s handy too if the day cools off or ya get a bit chilly – never hurts to be ready.

4. Snacks and Water
Now, them snacks at the race? They cost a pretty penny! Pack yourself some snacks like sandwiches, chips, or even a granola bar or two. You’re also gonna need water – lots of it! Race days get hot, and nobody likes payin’ for bottled water every time they get thirsty. Fill up a big ol’ bottle at home, throw it in a cooler if ya got one, and you’re set for the day.
5. Comfortable Shoes
Now don’t go wearin’ them fancy shoes. You’re gonna be walkin’ – a lot! Wear some comfortable shoes so yer feet don’t end up achin’. You’ll thank me later when you ain’t hobblin’ around after the race. Sneakers are the way to go, somethin’ that lets ya walk around without rubbin’ or pinchin’ yer toes.
6. Bring a Hat

Along with sunscreen and shades, a hat is a smart idea. Somethin’ with a wide brim is best. Keeps that sun off yer face and outta yer eyes. Doesn’t have to be fancy – a simple baseball cap or sun hat’ll do the trick.
7. Sweatshirt or Jacket
Don’t be fooled by the warm weather durin’ the day. Once that sun dips down, it can get chilly fast, especially if you’re in the shade. Bring a sweatshirt or light jacket to stay warm. Better to have it and not need it than be sittin’ there shiverin’ when the wind picks up.
8. Cash & ID
Now, some places take cards, sure, but don’t count on it! Best to have a bit of cash handy. Also, if ya wanna grab a cold beer or some food from the vendors, bring yer ID – they might ask, even if you’re a few years past twenty-one like ol’ granny here.

9. Arrive Early & Settle In
Lastly, give yourself plenty of time to get there. Arrivin’ early means ya get to find yer seat, get comfy, and soak up all the sights and sounds before the race even starts. I’d say aim to get there at least a couple hours early, just to play it safe. Once ya settle in, you’re all set to enjoy the race like a real fan!
So, there ya go! Pack up these essentials, and you’ll have yourself a fine time at the NASCAR race without worryin’ ’bout sunburn, thirst, or achy feet. Now go on, pack up yer bag, and get ready to cheer those drivers on like you mean it!
