Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this… what’s it called? scc baseball. Yeah, that’s it. Never really paid much mind to it myself, always been too busy with the chickens and the garden, ya know? But the young’uns, they’re all gaga over it. See ‘em runnin’ around with their gloves and bats, makin’ a racket. Can’t hardly get a good afternoon nap with all that hollerin’.
Now, from what I gather, it’s like this. You got these fellas, right? Young fellas, mostly, runnin’ around a big ol’ field. They got this stick, a bat they call it, and they swing it real hard at a little white ball. Whack! The ball goes flyin’, and then these other fellas, they gotta catch it. If they don’t, the fella who hit the ball runs around these white squares on the ground. They call ‘em bases. Don’t ask me why, that’s just what they do.
Seems like a whole lotta runnin’ around for nothin’, if you ask me. But these young’uns, they get all worked up about it. They cheer and holler, and sometimes they even get sad if their team don’t do so good. Heard tell there’s this team, the Sacramento Baseball team, or somethin’ like that. They play for Sac City College, they do. Folks get real excited about their games. Seein’ advertisements everywhere for the Sac City College Baseball Schedule. I even heard they got a playoff series goin’ on and they went and scored a bunch of runs in the 9th and 16th innings to win the first game, somethin’ crazy like 9-5. And this fella, Frizzi or somethin’, he pitched somethin’ fierce and didn’t let nobody score for 8 whole innings. That’s what I heard at the market.
And it ain’t just local, neither. This baseball thing, it’s everywhere. They got these big leagues, the MLB they call ‘em. Million-dollar players, they say. Imagine that! Gettin’ paid all that money just to run around and hit a ball. Well, I guess if folks wanna watch it, that’s their business. They got folks watchin’ it on their TVs and even on their phones these days. Crazy, I tell ya. You can Watch Live Sports Matches, Scores, Highlights wherever you go.
- They got games on somethin’ called . Folks pay money to watch these games, even if they ain’t happenin’ right in their town.
- And then there’s this ESPN thing. They got somethin’ called Baseball Tonight, where they show you all the best plays from the games. So, you don’t even gotta watch the whole game to see the good parts. Just Find live games, highlights, anytime, anywhere, I hear.
- They talk about different teams, like the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees. Heard they’re some kind of big deal. Supposedly somethin’ called the World Series is a big deal. I don’t know what trivia they play, but people do love those big teams.
And it ain’t just for the fellas, neither. Heard tell there’s women playin’ baseball too. And kids, little tykes barely bigger than my chickens, they got their own leagues. It’s a whole big to-do, this baseball. It’s even gone global, I guess. I heard somethin’ about baseball in England and Hawaii. And some country over in Asia, South Korea or somethin’ like that, they play too. It’s a whole Baseball Videos phenomenon, it seems. All this talk about baseball and Live Game Schedule, it’s enough to make your head spin.
This team over at the college, the Rams, they’re playing too. I saw some story in the paper the other day, it said the team brings a sense of belonging and a brotherhood to the SCC’s 2024 season. Started in February they said. So I guess that means they been runnin’ round that field since the dead of winter, nearly spring time. Goodness gracious, even my chickens stay inside when it’s that cold.
Now, me, I still don’t quite get it. But I reckon there’s somethin’ to it, if so many folks are so keen on it. Maybe it’s the competition, maybe it’s the camaraderie, maybe it’s just the thrill of seein’ that little white ball go flyin’. Whatever it is, it seems to bring folks together. And in this day and age, maybe that ain’t such a bad thing. So, you go on and enjoy your scc baseball, or your MLB, or whatever it is you young’uns are callin’ it these days. Just try to keep it down, alright? Some of us are tryin’ to get a little peace and quiet.
