Well, butter my biscuits, you wanna know what channel the Vols football game is on today? Shucks, that depends on which day it is, you see. These young folks and their fancy TV schedules, it’s a whole to-do. But I reckon I can try to help ya figure it out.
Now, if they’re playin’ that Chattanooga team, that was back on August 31st, I think it was. They called it a W, and some big numbers, 69 to 3, goodness! That means they won big, bless their hearts. If you missed that one, well, it’s gone now. Can’t see it no more on the TV. You could see that one on the SEC Network thingamajig, they said.

Then there was that game against that NC State, in Charlotte, on September 7th. They said that was a W too, 51 to 10. Lordy, they sure did good! Another big win, that’s what I like to see. That was also on the TV. They say ABC showed it. If you don’t got cable, that ESPN+ or Sling TV can work too. That’s what they say.
And then, lemme see, there’s that Kent State game on September 14th. They say it’s gonna be at 7:45 p.m. Eastern Time, whatever that means. That’s the one you wanna watch if it’s that day. They’re playin’ at that Neyland Stadium, that big ol’ place in Knoxville.
Now, that Neyland Stadium, that’s where the Tennessee Vols, those are our boys, play a lot of their games. Big place, holds a whole mess of people. If they ain’t playin’ there, they might be playin’ somewhere else, like that time they went to Charlotte.
- August 31st – They played Chattanooga. They won 69-3. You could watch it on SEC Network.
- September 7th – They played NC State in Charlotte. They won 51-10. You could watch it on ABC, ESPN+, or Sling TV.
- September 14th – They’re gonna play Kent State at 7:45 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium.
They got this coach, Josh Heupel, seems like a good fella. They won 10 games with him, twice in three years! That’s a lot of winnin’. Makes an old lady proud, it does.
Sometimes they play on that ESPN+ thing, sometimes on that SEC Network+ doohickey. It’s all streamin’ now, they say. Don’t ask me how that works, I just know you gotta have the right thingamajig to watch it.

They got these fellas, Lowell Galindo and Fozzy Whittaker, they talk about the game on the TV. And a lady, Marilyn Payne, she’s down there on the field, tellin’ folks what’s goin’ on. They make it all official-like.
If they’re playin’ that Vanderbilt team, well, that’s another story. You gotta check when that game is. Each game is different, you see. They don’t all play on the same day or the same channel.
One time they were playing Ohio. They say that was a big game. It was on December 21st. They call it CFP Bound. Sounds important.
These games, they all over the place. FOX Sports, ABC, ESPN, SEC… mercy! It’s a lot to keep track of.
Best thing to do, if you really wanna know, is to find one of them young folks who knows about these things. They can look it up on their phones or their computers. They always know how to find these things out.

But I hope I helped you some. It ain’t easy keepin’ up with all this nowadays. But one thing’s for sure, them Vols, they sure are fun to watch when they’re winnin’!
Just remember, that schedule changes all the time. So what channel is the Vols game on today? Well, honey, you gotta tell me what today is first! Then maybe, just maybe, we can figure it out.
And if all else fails, just holler at one of them young’uns. They’ll know what to do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think my stories are about to come on.
