Alright, so I was trying to figure out what football games were gonna be on New Year’s Day. I mean, it’s a tradition, right? Gotta have some good games to watch while ringing in the new year.
First, I did a simple search online. Just typed in “New Year’s Day football games” and a bunch of stuff popped up. It wasn’t super clear at first, but I started digging through the results.

Key Matchups
- Brentford vs. Arsenal – It looks like this one is the big soccer game, kicking off at 5:30 PM.
- Liverpool vs. Manchester United – Another soccer match, but this one’s on Sunday, January 5th at 4:30 PM.
Then there’s the college football stuff. The Rose Bowl Game is the classic New Year’s Day game. Always a big deal, played in Pasadena, California.
Past Winners
I saw that the Buckeyes won it back in 2022, and the Ducks took it in 2020. Apparently, whoever wins those two will end up in the Cotton Bowl. So, that’s something to keep an eye on.
Other Bowls
Oh, and there’s another game mentioned – U-M (which I assume is Michigan) versus Alabama. They’re playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida. They’ve played each other six times before, and it’s tied at three wins each. This will be the seventh time, and Michigan actually won the last time they met.
So, after checking through all of these, I finally got a decent idea of what football games will be broadcast on New Year’s Day. There’s a good mix of soccer and college football, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy. I’m particularly interested in the Rose Bowl Game, but that U-M vs. Alabama game could be a good one, too.
Honestly, it took a bit of searching around to find all this info. It wasn’t all in one place, but hey, that’s what I found out.
