So I was messing around with baseball the other day, trying to figure out this whole “tagging up” thing. It sounded kinda complicated when I first heard about it, but it’s not that bad once you get into it.
First, I grabbed a bat, a ball, and a glove. I went out to the field with a buddy of mine. He’s way better at baseball than me, but I figured he could help me out.

We started with him on the pitcher’s mound, and I stood at first base. He pitched the ball, and I hit it way up in the air. That’s where the tagging up part comes in. Basically, when that ball is flying, I couldn’t just run to second base. I had to stay put at first until my friend caught the ball.
- I waited at first base, eyes glued to the ball.
- My buddy ran and caught it.
- As soon as he caught it, I took off towards second base.
We did this a bunch of times. Sometimes he caught it quickly, and sometimes it took a while. I even messed up a few times and started running before he caught it. That’s a big no-no. You gotta wait for the catch, or you’re out.
After a while, I started to get the hang of it. It’s all about timing and knowing the rules. You gotta be patient and wait for that catch, but then you also gotta be ready to sprint as soon as it happens.
It’s Kinda Cool
It’s actually a pretty cool part of the game. It adds another layer of strategy and excitement. Imagine a close game, and you’re on third base. If you time it right, you can tag up and score the winning run! I haven’t gotten that good yet, but I can see how it would be a game-changer.
