Okay, so I’ve been meaning to figure out which football is the best for ages, and today I finally got around to doing it. It’s not as straightforward as you might think!
Getting Started
First, I grabbed all the footballs I could find around my place. We’re talking a couple of old, beat-up ones, a slightly newer one, and one I swear I’ve only used like twice.

The “Feel” Test
I started by just, you know, holding them. Checking the grip, the weight, how they felt in my hands. Some felt kinda cheap and plasticky, others had that nice, solid feel to them.
Bounce and Flight
Next, I took them outside. I bounced them on the pavement, kicked them against a wall, and even threw a few spirals (or at least, my version of spirals!). This really showed the difference. The old ones were all wonky, but the newer ones flew pretty straight.
Checking the Material
- One ball had this weird, smooth surface that felt slippery.
- Another had deeper grooves, which gave it a much better grip.
- I even noticed the stitching on some was coming loose, which is obviously not good.
My Conclusion?
Honestly, after all that messing around, it’s clear that the slightly newer ball, the one with the good grip and the solid feel, is the winner. It just felt better to kick and throw, and it seemed way more durable than the others. I guess you get what you pay for!
