So, the other day I was trying to figure out what the most popular boxing match ever was. It’s a fun little question, right? I started by just typing in “most popular boxing match” into my search engine. You know, the usual way we all start these things.
After hitting enter, I got a whole bunch of results. I skimmed through a few of them, trying to see if there was any kind of agreement. I saw a couple of names popping up more than others. It seemed like Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Deontay Wilder, and Tyson Fury were all in the mix.

I started to make a little list in my notepad. I wrote down “Holyfield vs. Tyson II,” “Hagler vs. Hearns,” and “Wilder vs. Fury.” These seemed like the big contenders, from what I could gather.
- Holyfield vs. Tyson II – I remember this one! It was huge back in the day. Lots of buzz around it.
- Hagler vs. Hearns – This one I wasn’t as familiar with, but the articles I read called it “The War.” Sounds intense!
- Wilder vs. Fury – This was more recent. I definitely caught some of the hype around these fights. They fought twice, as far as I can recall.
After looking at my list, I felt like I had a pretty good idea of the top contenders. It’s tough to say definitively which one was THE most popular, since everyone measures popularity differently, but from my little deep dive, these three matches seem to be at the top of the pile.
I thought it is an interesting topic and worth to share it with you guys. Hope you will like it!
