Okay, so I got curious about how much those NFL mascots make. You know, the guys in the big furry suits running around, getting the crowd hyped up? I figured it couldn’t be that much, right? Boy, was I in for a surprise.
First, I did a little digging. Just some basic searching to get a feel for things. Turns out, there’s not a ton of super specific info out there. You know, it’s not like every team is posting their mascot’s salary on their website!

But, I did find some general numbers. The average, from what I could gather, seems to be around $60,000 a year. Which, honestly, isn’t bad! I mean, for running around in a costume and having fun, that’s a decent chunk of change. Other sources said that this is about 45$/hour.
Then, I learned that a couple of the bigger names, like Rowdy (Cowboys, I think?) and Pat Patriot (obviously the Patriots), probably make even more. And that makes sense, right? Bigger teams, bigger markets, probably bigger paychecks for the mascots.
My Thoughts after My Simple Research
- The job looks fun and they can earn 60,000$ per year!
- I guess some famous mascots earn much more than the average level.
- If I were younger, I might try to apply for a mascot. lol
So, yeah, that’s the gist of what I found out. It’s not exactly rocket science, but it was a fun little dive into a world I didn’t know much about. Definitely more to being a mascot than just goofing around, I guess!
