Okay, so I was messing around online the other day, and I got this random thought in my head: which state pumps out the most NBA players? It’s a weird question, I know, but I was curious. So, I started digging.
Start Searching
First, I just fired up Google, you know, the usual. Typed in “what state produces the most NBA players”. Boom, tons of results. But it was all a jumbled mess of websites and articles. A lot of them were from these sports betting places. I stumbled upon a site called SmartBettingGuide or something.

Digging Deeper
I clicked around a few of these betting sites, and a bunch of blogs, trying to piece together the answer. Some of them were talking about how Kentucky is not a traditional basketball hotbed, even though they had a good number of NBA players, which I thought was kind of interesting.
Found the Answer
Finally, after sifting through a bunch of stuff, it became pretty clear. California is the king. I saw a number that blew my mind: 442! That’s how many NBA and ABA players were born there. 442! Can you believe that?
Making Sense of It
It makes sense when you think about it. California’s huge, lots of people, and they’ve had some of the biggest names in basketball history come out of there. I kept seeing that mentioned over and over again in the articles I found.
Wrapping Up
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in internet research for the day. California’s the top dog when it comes to producing NBA stars. It was a fun little rabbit hole to go down. Just one of those random things that pop into your head, and you gotta find the answer, you know?
